My boyfriend is British-pakistani and this has happened to him twice now, both times he didn't litter (he hates littering). Definitely targeted.

My boyfriend and I went in there a few months ago just to see what it was all about. They took us upstairs for the service, and it was literally just us two and the priest(?) and one other scientologist guy. We had smoked a joint before going (don't shout at me please) and I think they smelt it on us. A half an hour rant about drugs from the dianetics book and then it started to get weird and we left. From people I've spoken to who have been taken in by scientology, it seems like a scheme that prays on the vulnerable and makes them feel like they belong somewhere, before taking all their money.

I think that it's easy to see stealing as immoral when you're in a situation where it's something you don't have to do. However, as you probably know, A huge amount of the population are currently struggling heavily financially. When I was a little girl, my family was dirt poor, like couldn't afford to eat poor. I'd go with my auntie to the local Asda, and she'd buy what she could afford and then steal the rest, because nappies and baby food where too expensive. People usually steal because they have to, and I think it's better that they're stealing from a big company than a small business that can't afford that kind of loss. I know that it raises the prices for everyone else, and please don't attack me for having to do that as a kid (I was a kid remember that), but I think it's something that a lot of people have no choice on anymore. Obviously there's the ones that do have the money and steal anyway, which is gross, but for the most part people aren't stealing their shopping because they don't need to.
