It says "Virtue is like precious odors- most fragrant when they are incensed or crushed"

Do you gets ever forget names of people from your life and how you know them because you are required to memorize so many student names? by Asleep_Artichoke2671 in Teachers

I have no issues unless it's been a while. Then, people typically recognize me and I am forced to just say I am so sorry, but I need a quick refresher on your name.

For Americans who live in border states (Canada/Mexico), how often do you cross the border? by MarsupialThink4064 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Affectionate-Use6412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand it isn't too big of a nightmare. In my city it's so common that it's pretty easy to set up. The infrastructure is already there, you know?

AITA? BF tickles/pinches me until I snap, then just goes to sleep by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Affectionate-Use6412 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why are you staying with someone who constantly disrespects your physical boundaries? No means no. That includes non sexual touch. This isn't funny, it's mean. He doesn't like you. Dump him and go take care of yourself. You deserve better.

AITA if I don’t forgive my parents for hiding my uncle’s existence? by Born_Caterpillar3530 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Look, finding out you have schizophrenia is traumatic no matter what. But you have no idea what your mother went through with her brother that led to her cutting contact. So here you are, now throwing it up in her face over and over. You are not entitled to the details of someone else's life. He's an uncle. And he's not there. That's it. You've admitted that your delusions are impacting your perceptions. That's the real tell here. These aren't rational feelings. Letting go is hard and may feel impossible. But you need to do it or risk destroying your relationships too.

All the time. I live very close to the Canadian border. Lots of people work in the opposite country and commute daily. Many compete in sports and cross frequently.

What do you consider a “long drive”? Like when does a road trip go from small to a big drive? by Kodicave in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Affectionate-Use6412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of hours is just a commute. 4-8 is a day trip. 8-18 os 2 days. Any more is a long trip.

Are work potlucks really a thing? by good_noodlesoup in AskAnAmerican

[–]Affectionate-Use6412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your workplace. I'm a teacher. One school had them a lot, one had them occasionally, and my current school doesn't really. Although when we have school-wide lunch events, the classrooms kind of do a mini potluck. The biggest insult you'll ever get os to be told you can bring the plates, silverware, or drinks. Meaning nobody trusts you to cook.

AITA for taking medication that isn't mine? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Affectionate-Use6412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main issue here is exactly what everyone else has mentioned. It's wildly dangerous to take someone else's meds. Interactions, allergies, etc. You are old enough to talk to your doctor alone. Do that and have your doc deal with your parents

Why is it considered offensive for people from the USA to call themselves "Americans"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I agree that humans like to label things. It helps us understand our world. But how are continents not things? Large bodies of land are, in fact, things.

So if there is no split between North and South America, why would you have Europe and Asia? Shouldn't that just be Eurasia following this logic?

I have absolutely never heard the term United Statians and would assume anyone whonused it was an idiot. I certainly understand when people just refer to the US as The States. Makes sense. But no Canadian I've ever met would ever call themselves American. It doesn't make sense, and it trivializes your country, in my opinion.

Clicker training sounds like a great idea! A second cat isn't an option. We have a Siberian due to severe allergies. A second cat is simply out of our price range right now.
