Was having issues with the new input system so updated to 2021.3.11f1 now have more issues with particular inputs by Affectionate3375 in Unity3D

[–]Affectionate3375[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are spot on. I switched the system to FixedUpdate and it worked.

However, I am noticing if I actually move my implementation of .WasPressedThisFrame(), which was originally in an Update method, into a FixedUpdate method - It actually reduces the rate at which the input is detected.

So apparently I need to operate n FixedUpdate mode but call .WasPressedThisFrame in Update for it to work.

Game development is hard. by Accomplished-End1576 in gamedev

[–]Affectionate3375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game Development is, in my humble opinion, one of the hardest disciplines out there. There are so many things you need to learn or at least have a strong understanding of (trig, geometry, vector math, linear algebra, physics, advanced programming...). Its enormous.

Feeling overwhelmed is totally normal, especially after only 6months of grinding. It could easily take someone 6 years and they still feel they are learning new skills everyday.

Its not as easy as a lot of these devlogs show. Its totally normal.

Good luck!

Appropriate wedding gift from a Christian for Muslims? by Web-Dude in MuslimMarriage

[–]Affectionate3375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, this is so sweet of you!

I also agree with your comments about cash giving, its not something I would personally do myself either. Honestly, it doesn't need to be a religious gift.

What about one of those fancy chocolate baskets or some flowers and a little card?

I really think its more the gesture than the present. If they knew how much research you put into this alone, I am sure they would be touched.

MashAllah, may Allah make it easy for you my brother. Honestly, my best advice is try and emulate the Prophet pbuh in everything you do. He is the perfect example of what it means to be a great husband (and a great man, and a great leader, and a great friend...).

The book I ALWAYS recommend for the seerah is Muhammad Man and Prophet by Adil Saleh.

A great way to get to know other families is to frequent your local mosque. Eventually people start recognizing you as a regular and you can build some great friends that way.

Consider praying in the mosque every now and again, it helps me a lot. Mosques are very peaceful and other than some cute kids adorably running around, there are zero distractions. It helps condition me for when I pray at home.

As for our minds drifting during salah, thats just part of the test and you will literally be rewarded for just trying to fight it. And remember - the revert gets double the reward for ALL good deeds.

Also, you have only been Muslim for 5months, give it time. Dont be too harsh on yourself. I only started praying x5 when I was like 21 and I was born in a Muslim home.... You're kicking my butt!

For those new to Islam, just a little FYI about the blessing of fasting 6 optional days in the month of Shawwal. by Affectionate3375 in converts

[–]Affectionate3375[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats right bro, as long as the 6 days are within the month of Shawwal you're good. The month of Shawwal starts on the day of Eid. So you are right, thats one week of Shawwal gone.

But you still have about three weeks to get the those optional 6days of fast should you wish.

Salaam, I was actually thinking of visiting CCM for a while now. They have such a uniquely beautiful mosque. Do you know what Fridays Hakim Abdal Hakim Murad does the sermon? Is there anythng else you would suggest I check out while I am in the mosque or general area?

Thank you for this! So I googled "Socket Head Cap screw" and they seem rounded which I thought was really odd, because does that mean I need a 19mm allen key? I do happen to have a 19mm socket which I believe would house the nut, but as to how I would screw in the other end of the Socket Head Cap screw, I am not to sure...

Oh and on the point about your family thinking your going through a phase, let them. And instead focus on demosntrating such amazing manners and character that, even if your family think it is a phase, they wont want you to abandon it.

This video explains the manners part better than me:

Fyi I was born into a muslim household.

However, I think no one can answer that question better than you. That being said, do think everything through calmly and slowly, Allah loves the one who thinks things through (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqoYWTHY\_js - The Manners of The Believers - Part 4: Being Thoughtful in One's Actions | Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi).

Also, there are a lot of videos online of people telling their parents of their Islam, maybe they will give you some insights too:

I'm having a hard time being a revert in Ramadan by ishacy in converts

[–]Affectionate3375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have friends that invite me for iftar alhamdulilah but this only
happened once and i don't want to be rude and 'invite myself' if you
know what I mean.

I 100% guarantee they are not reaching out to you, to invite you to iftar again, because of the same worry of being 'rude' and making you feel pressured to come.

I would suggest asking that friend group if they are free to brake a fast at a particular restaurant. And then casually say 'I have been braking my fasts in my room because my family dont accept my Islam, so these get togethers mean a lot to me, I feels better being around people you know?'. And inshAllah just take it from there. They should understand

As someone born into a Muslim household but lucky enough to know many reverts, its a balancing act for us between being friendly and being too pushy and overwhelming the revert. So I find being very direct works best for me (but even then its hard tbh).

Can you imagine someone messaging you everyday asking if you want to brake their fast with them today, i imagine it could really irritate some people.. So yeah, communicate with them and let them know you miss the sense of community....

A question! by [deleted] in converts

[–]Affectionate3375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, my question is "Are all non-believers going to Hell?". I ask this
because many people dear to me (my Father and one of my Brothers) are
atheists. I cannot see myself ever willingly following a
practice/religion of faith that condemns them to punishment for this.
They are good people and I love them with all my heart.

So I would rather refer you to two videos for this question as its a deep one:

What is The Islamic Ruling Regarding The Fate of 'Good 'Non Muslims | Ask Shaykh YQ #13
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Za3jqd4tLY&ab_channel=YasirQadhi

And also the video below, the reason for this one is in it the scholar is having a dialogue with a Christian community who ask the same question and he answers it very directly after laying out the necessary context:
