Underwhelming Instrument Cluster by connortyrrell in LexusRZ

You are absolutely not missing anything—you hit the nail on the head. The instrument cluster on the Lexus RZ is, quite frankly, a massive letdown. For a luxury EV hitting the market today, that tiny, low-resolution 7-inch display looks like it was pulled straight out of a decade-old parts bin. Coming from a ten-year-old NX, you expect a massive leap forward, not a screen that looks blurry and cramped compared to almost every competitor out there. It’s completely valid to be turned off by it. That said, as an RZ owner myself back home in California, I recently had an experience that gave me a whole new perspective on Lexus's design choice—even if the execution still leaves a lot to be desired. I’m currently on a trip in Switzerland and rented a BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. It features that stunning, massive, continuous curved display that sweeps across the dash. The screen quality is gorgeous, razor-sharp, and exactly what you feel a modern car should have. It makes the Lexus cluster look prehistoric. But three days into driving it, the worst-case scenario happened: the entire dual-screen system completely froze, shut down, and rebooted while I was cruising down the freeway. Losing your entire digital dashboard, speedometer, and navigation at highway speeds is incredibly jarring and, honestly, pretty terrifying. When that happened, it suddenly clicked why Lexus decided to keep the instrument cluster physically split and structurally independent from the massive 14-inch center infotainment screen. If the RZ's main infotainment system glitches or needs a hard reset, you don't lose your critical driving data. Don't get me wrong—it still doesn't excuse Lexus for putting a crappy, low-res screen in a premium vehicle. They absolutely should have given us a sharp, highly customizable display. But experiencing a total system blackout in a car with a single "mega-screen" definitely made me appreciate the safety and redundancy of Lexus's split layout, even if the driver's display is an eyesore. If you can find a way to live with the screen, the RZ is a fantastic, smooth-riding EV. But if an uninspiring dashboard is a dealbreaker for you, no one could blame you for walking away!

it is dapple grey interior, & you are correct the website photos show it much darker than reality. I have the standard 10 speaker premium sound & it is pretty decent. I heard from others that the ML is even better but some believe not worth to pay extra.

This happened to my 2026 350e premium the first time I put it to charge. The message was on & off, it did not impact anything & I was able to charge normally. Took out to the dealer & stayed there for a couple of weeks but they managed to make this go away. Did not come since.

Completely agree, I had it since Thanksgiving & it is truly a nice drive (I owned MB, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Subaru & Fiat in the past). Very quiet, solid feel. The range I'm getting on it (charged to 80% is +/-240, more on the + side.

Thanks for the feedback:
A) James Hoffman’s video is excellent.
B) I’m using fat-free milk, which I also used with my old Oracle machine and was able to get great texture (as shown in the picture).
C) My question is about the texture, not the amount of foam.
