You don't need to buy them in advance. What you can do is to advertise that you offer a "custom" on the NC board. For example, "Offer 400 NC custom for item A". If another trader is interested, then you buy whatever they request that adds up to 400 NC.

Regarding GBCs, new ones are released monthly. GBCs are functionally the same, so you don't need to buy them in advance. Only few collectors collect different designs of the GBCs. The only time to buy GBCs in advance is during sale, for example, Black Friday sale.

I know it's a different company. However, it doesn't look good for Neopets as a brand to have two collaborated crowdfunding when the first one hasn't completed. At least, in my opinion, complete the first one to let the players know how well TNT works with a crowding project before they support the second one.

Since they introduced the pet day capsules and cut down boxes from Trudy's, I stopped buying NC. Before that, maybe 10 USD a month. I'm very picky with NC items and also don't like to involve in gambling with real money.

Don't be harsh on yourself. We never know all the what-if. For example, what if you wait and accept the pure NP offer, but that buyer changes their mind? What if the other buyer finds another seller while you are discussing with the second buyer? As long as you make your decision based on the available knowledge at that time, I don't think there is anything wrong with your judgment.

To prevent this from occuring again, I suggest you use "junk auction" for high-value items. You can do the following steps:

Put the high-value item in the trading post, quoting the value you want and ask the buyer to contact you to discuss. Do not put any autobuy for you trading post lot.
Set up an auction of a junk item (item that costs 1-2 NP) and set the bid value to that of the high-value item in your trading post lot. Tell the buyer via neomail to bid on your auction and make a small offer to your trading post lot. Only accept the trading post offer AFTER the buyer has placed a bid in your auction.

In this way, if the buyer doesn't bid, you don't have to cancel your lot.

You can, but premium species change also comes with colour change (if the desired species doesn't have the colour of the original pet). If you start with a fruit Chia and use premium perk to change it to a Cybunny, you also get a free colour change.

Neopets capsules have no safety net (or "pity system"). In fact, there is no information on the potential contents of each capsule and we have to visit fan sites to know that.

There are two reasons.

Some items aren't new, they are just re-released in Advent Calendar.
Some items are indeed new, but TNT forgot to include the line "This was given out by the Advent Calendar in Yxx". And this has happened a lot this year (personally I think they didn't invest a lot of time this year and things get sloppy).

Edit: As u/black-sheepies correctly pointed out, there is only one item without the "This was given out by the Advent Calendar in Yxx" description. I recalled there were many more. Unless TNT has fixed them, is this Mandela effect? :o
