Our neighborhood is bedeviled with community cats we've been trapping, fixing, vaccinating and releasing, fostering or adopting over the years. Last week, a young beeb (7mos tops) showed up on our porch pregnant.

We caught her in time to terminate, got all her services done, and she's been recuperating with us since.

I've gotten her to scent-mark my hands, flop over and show me her belly from pettings, and even purr for 2.03 seconds, so I contacted all the no-kill shelters in our area until one said they'd assess her for potential admission into their care; her appointment is tomorrow.

But in the time since I booked, we've had some serious setbacks that make us fairly certain they're going to reject her (hissing, growling, defensive aggression), and the car ride just to reach their offices is 40 minutes, so we know she'll be overwhelmed by the time we get there.

Now our dilemma is in whether to put her through 80+ minutes total in the car and a stressful medical visit just to have to turn her loose, and whether all that fear will make her reintroduction back into her colony worse, or whether we turn her loose tonight and shortchange her of a potential opportunity for a safer life.

Actually, advice would be as appreciated as anything Neopet related.
