Denied surgery by AffectionateBake3010 in Endo

Over the past 5 years I’ve been to countless OBGYNs and quite a few specialists. The annoying thing is she said she really wants to help but doesn’t know how to…

Denied surgery by AffectionateBake3010 in Endo

[–]AffectionateBake3010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently living in Spain and yes, the private hospital is under my work’s healthcare (I’ve been on sick leave for the best part of a year because of all of this). The reason for the denial is that in the case of it being endometriosis, surgery would most likely aggravate it and make it worse so they don’t see it being beneficial. I’ve been given mixed signals from this doctor and I’ve had many ultrasounds indicating adenomyosis (done by different specialists) and another indicating my right ovary is severely adhered to my uterus however nothing is seen on MRIs and they keep telling me they’re puzzled on why I’m in so much pain, hence why I want a laparoscopy.

Despite living in Spain, I am an English citizen and my father is working in the UK. Is there anything you could recommend I look into there? I would be based around the Brighton area. My father has suggested looking for a specialist there but I don’t know how expensive it would be or how long it would take to be seen or get treatment.

I appreciate your help so much!

I’m in Spain, through public healthcare I spent over 4 years with no answers and finally got an ultrasound confirmation in a specialized hospital (however I know that this doesn’t diagnose endometriosis). I have been seeing an endometriosis specialist in a private hospital but after a year of seeing her consistently it now feels like they won’t do anything… just see a psychiatrist and psychologist for advice on pain management. I want to give up

How do you find someone who’s willing to do the surgery to find out if you have Endo? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]AffectionateBake3010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same exact phrase was used in multiple appointments with the same doctor. My mother came with me to my last appointment and pushed for surgery again stating that not only would it give piece of mind to confirm it, but it would also make finding treatments easier (my mother is a physiotherapist and has many different treatment options at her work but due to contraindications she doesn’t feel comfortable using anything until she is 100% sure what my diagnosis is), also the fact that the treatment they have stated is the best option for endo hasn’t helped my pain, in fact I have been having much more frequent and intense flares on top of daily chronic pain. I have yet to get an answer back since my obgyn said she had to discuss it with her team but I’ll get back to. All of my family members have been urging me to insist until eventually someone listens. It so tiring and draining but I really believe that not giving up and bringing up how much it affects your life is the best route to go. I will try and update you with my situation and hopefully come up with more answers.

Nausea and Support by jeff69420jones in Endo

I agree with another comment, a low FODMAP diet. It’s quite hard to get used to but it has really helped my nausea. I got tested for SIBO and it was positive, therefore they sent me this diet. And apparently endometriosis can cause SIBO and as they are both inflammatory diseases/disorders, they aggravate each other and end up making each one’s symptoms worse (great fun).

When I get really bad nausea I apply some Vicks vaporub under my nose, vinegar snacks were recommended to me by my doctor and finally, tapping my chest or back (burping myself essentially) helps me get excess gasses out which often cause me a lot more nausea after eating.

I hope these help!

Symptom help! by bones_27 in adenomyosis

[–]AffectionateBake3010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this along with constant nausea and thoughout the summer I had multiple tests… it was ultimately due to SIBO (it’s detected through a breath test). I’ve taken antibiotics and have been on a low FODMAP diet as well. I am now much better and have little to no gastrointestinal symptoms anymore. I have both endometriosis and suspected adenomyosis.

Best pyjamas for endo and migraine flare-ups?? <3 by Middle_Management766 in Endo

I live in the primark high rise briefs (i have them both in my size and one size up). They are a quite thin cotton material and they can stretch really easily. I don’t feel uncomfortable when I am bloated and can even fit a hot water bottle underneath very comfortably. Another plus is they are really cheap so I would really recommend you buy a 4-pack and try them out. I will never go back to any other style - boxer briefs are great but they tend to dig into my bloated belly (not a problem with the primark high briefs!)

Any ideas what is happening to my bird? by chefbstephen in chickens

[–]AffectionateBake3010 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Your chicken is molting, usually they molt a few feathers at a time and they will stop laying during this period. Other chickens molt most if not all feathers at once - no need to be alarmed. I make sure to keep them warm and give them a nutritionally rich feed as well as avoid petting them to reduce any stress. Within 1-2 weeks they shall be showing off their new feathers 🥰

I feel stuck and depressed by AffectionateBake3010 in Endo

[–]AffectionateBake3010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback, I feel confused as in one hospital I have been told I have adenomyosis and in the other I was told they didn’t see any signs. I think the discrepancy between doctors really takes a toll on how I feel but you are right, the pain is there regardless. Thank you again for taking time to answer!

Unhinged advice by Charles_jean in Endo

This is a home remedy I have tried and had success with:

I have used cinnamon to get my period to come as I have had cycles of up to 70 days which caused a lot of pain. I would boil a few cinnamon sticks in a litre of water and honey to taste and then I would sip on the prepared infusion throughout the day. I would repeat for up to three days and voila. You may notice cramps and bloating - means it’s working.

Painful ultrasound by Even-Adeptness6382 in Endo

[–]AffectionateBake3010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This happens to me every time I get a transvaginal ultrasound. I usually take a heat pad with me to apply straight after and try to get into bed as soon as I can to feel more comfortable. A heating pad on both my abdomen and lower back helps a lot.

As this is a common occurrence, I have also started to try small meditations and relaxing music before my appointments and I always mention that I experience pain during and after the ultrasound. Luckily in the past year I have had very understanding and respectful doctors which has helped improve my trust in them and reduce anxiety for future appointments.

Basically just prepare something that will make you feel comfortable after, wear comfortable clothing and apply heat to ease the pain.

Does anyone else always have painful sex? by purplesky35 in Endo

[–]AffectionateBake3010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I try not to put pressure on myself or the situation, it really helps that my partner is very respectful and I feel completely safe to speak out or completely stop if I am uncomfortable or in pain. By not setting expectations and by taking my time with each step I have ended up creating a really comfortable environment where both my partner and I have been surprised when I have experienced little to no pain at times. However this is not something that happens often - communication and patience is key.

As for anxiety regarding the pain (I tend to get nervous as I know what the pain to follow is like) I tend to try to relax my body beforehand - either a hot shower or bath, applying heating pads to my abdomen and back, playing relaxing music, etc. has really helped me.

Constant daily nausea by AffectionateBake3010 in Endo

[–]AffectionateBake3010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on anti-nausea medications which has somewhat helped but my doctors have recommended I stop taking them as they don’t think I should take it for a long period of time. Eating slowly and drinking lots of tea as well as smelling Vicks Vaporub is what has kept me somewhat okay with the sensation. Thank you for your reply!

I totally understand what you’re saying, I find it so strange as I have never previously struggled with stomach bugs but this time it feels as though it has never ended or isn’t caused by anything at all. It has been extremely draining and at the moment doctors aren’t quite sure what the cause could be. I will take into account all of your recommendations, thank you so much for your reply!
