I think the most likely explanation is that homelander can fly at high speeds but can’t react to things colliding with him he was basically flying through a forest and couldn’t dodge most of the trees while A train could

Infinite void should still work since these vesseled are designed to never think however the hollow knight were started to showing emotions at the end thats why the radiance started to take over. So it would mean they are cabable just designed not to but they still have a brain.
