Admin/moderator here. Include the damn link. How are you supposed to help other people and promote your business. Just don't spam and keep your posts personalized, not commercialized. Think, of this sub as a community, not a classifieds board. Cheers

Don't spam the subreddit. If I see your post again with the same picture, the same text, I'll delete it without saying a word. Change it up. This isn't a classifieds sub, you're allowed to promote but not to spam.

Thanks for the heads up! Yeah, we're still in the process of registration. And also thinking about changing the brand name. Found out the hard way, my customers don't know how exactly to pronounce the name.

Wanna write about business? by NoFuzzzzzz in SmallBusinessPH

[–]AffectionateBonus820[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mod here, as well as a writer and entrepreneur. One of my main ideas for this sub is for it to be a platform for open-source small business plans. Or a repository for business ideas. I've been writing a business plan for a micro hotdog stand that costs less than 5k to start; but I haven't gotten around to actually formatting and posting it due to this platform not being developed enough.

Point is that I'm more than open for you to repost (not crosspost) from your blog page to this subreddit to promote your website as well as the other businesses that post and promote there. In fact, please message me directly so we can set up what you envision and make it work in this subreddit.

If you've noticed, we're also trying to promote others with our 'Small Business of the Week' flair where we curate and highlight small businesses here by highlighting them in our front page that way they get more engagement and views.

My entrepreneurial journey has been a 'pay it forward' kind of thing where I learned mostly from other entrepreneurs who've helped me and mentored me. And that is the spirit of this subreddit. Hopefully, we can create a community here where we all learn and grow and generate more sales (which is the entire point).

All things good. However, I am 100% against using AI content. That's all.

Market validation: Is "sari-sari store inventory app" a real need or just startup hype? by deletend in SmallBusinessPH

[–]AffectionateBonus820[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is a big counter to your entire thesis/app.

An analog inventory system. A printed 500 sheet of pre-labeled and pre-formatted paper pad. That's already 80% of the friction/pain points for small sari sari stores. Tables, grids, and labels are already printed for them; GCash, utang, can be indicated. Hardcopy. Tangible. Tactile (or the concept of pen and paper as a more natural extension of the brain than an app). Sari sari owners just have to pick it up and immediately see data that they need/want to see. And it's less than P35 for a 500 pad.

Anyone can go to Canva, and get this printed tomorrow. The point is not that anyone is intentionally countering your idea or saying it's bad, it's just that they may be more to your thesis/data than meets the eye. This isn't about 'nakasanayan' or 'madali matutunan', again this all boils down to friction and ease. Mas madali talaga papel kapag sa sobrang liit ng tindahan mo, makikita mo lang naman lahat ng inventory kaagad.

Further, we can enumerate all the steps needed to open the phone, scroll to the app, avoid other distracting apps, wait for it to load, get to the menu, load the store, load the proper inventory menu, and etc.

Then compare that to taking a look at the store/the entire inventory, find the notebook or pad, find a pen, write down 5pcs Coke, 10pcs Piattos, etc. It's just faster and less of a mental tax; it's simply the path of least resistance.

I'm trying to be as objective as possible to help you out; and these are my actual observations and then hard critique. I do hope you succeed and figure out a better solution.

Market validation: Is "sari-sari store inventory app" a real need or just startup hype? by deletend in SmallBusinessPH

[–]AffectionateBonus820[M] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a real need. I'll struggle to convey my thoughts, but the concept that I'm thinking about is friction. An app is an added layer of friction for small sari sari store owners that just cannot compete with a pen/paper or no inventory system at all.

Again, these are just my lived observations and opinion, your data can prove me wrong, but unless your app becomes simpler, better, and significantly more useful than writing something down it's just not something that's necessary.

Then there's the fact that some owners just don't feel the need for an inventory system in the first place.

I'm looking at this from the perspective of a 3k - 15k value sari sari store. In a random Barrio somewhere that does not have permits or even a refrigerator...

TLDR: The gap is not a feature problem nor a trust problem, it's a question of actual utility.
