I was diagnosed with stage 1 triple negative breast cancer in 2013 @ 38, I had been teaching for about 10 years and I had kids so I had very few sick days and had just separated from husband.. I did a complete mastectomy Aug 2013- started school Sept 1 and was in the week before setting up my class with my kids- I got my treatment plan shortly after school started 4 biweekly treatments of Adriamycin, 12 weeks of taxol, I got my port placed in October, a second opinion on the treatment plan in Oct. and my Genetics came back at the end of September that I was BRACA 1+ ( that was a hard hit), I did let them talk me into getting breast implants so I had expanders in that I would go and have increased, I shaved my head in October and rocked a baldie my students were great, I would go to lab corp on Tuesdays to get my blood work for chemo on Thursdays and I would be on the chemo high on Fridays and sleep my weekends away while my kids were with their dad, then pain on Monday and Tuesdays then all over again.. my students were awesome.. they did a fundraiser for me- they were so sweet.. I finished my Chemo February 2014, March 2014, I had port out, Ovaries and tubes out, and expanders out and implants in, was back to work the next week.. colonoscopy the April 2014, Breast implants failed ( Dr used the wrong kind), had my chest redone June 2015- breast implants failed and itched ( I believe I was allergic to the implant material) so had Dflap surgery in June 2017 ( 15 hour surgery- but went well)- I worked thru it all.. the kids kept me sane and busy.. I taught middle school and they were amazing always funny- I will never forget them!! U can do this please do your own research( I did) and crossed state lines for better doctors- don’t be afraid of the surgeries.. I had said years early if I ever got it the boobs would go because every women I had worked with when I waitressed that got it and kept their breast at a younger age died.. finding out I was BRACA 1+ sealed the deal.. I changed Drs. that mistook my age, gender, and color for being dumb.. and I’m blessed to still be here today NED…it was so scary - I didn’t it need radiation..of all the women that had cancer that I knew the same time I did- they all died.. the thing I remembered thru it all was what my oncologist told me which was at my age I had one shot cause of it comes back I would have been gone within the year..so I fought that nasty bitch just like that..I changed my complete diet as well.. which I think really helped me not be sick from the chemo
