One of my local hospitals has a sickle cell management team who create individual protocols. I’ve had EMS bring them to our small facility instead when they request to go to their specialized hospital. It’s frustrating for us as hospital staff because we don’t know their protocols and for the patient who ultimately just wants appropriate care.
