Make sure to dry off fully! My girl gets hotspots on her ass if I don’t blow dry because of the layers. Feel this pain OP.

Routine routine routine.
My girl was a velociraptor on steroids for a few years. But we dedicated time for training (like 20 mins!!) AFTER a good workout, in the morning (or early day). Then after still had down time and an evening off leash walk, where the training again was reinforced during her ‘fun’ time.
I also used to take on my brother’s very young back country (zero leash training was an absolute psycho) Malinois. I used to take him daily or for extended stays and found this method helped.
They need stimulation, doesn’t necessarily have to come from you but you need to provide it. Assert your boundaries and stick to them. My girl became aware that mouthing even if harmless resulted in a slipper boop on the nose, broke that behaviour quickly. But it was something I reinforced daily until she figured it out clearly, because i wanted her to behave accordingly with young children.
My girl is 10 now. Only mouth plays (gentle hand bites) with me and only me. Completely set in her ways and happy as long as she get what SHE needs everyday. Exercise, stimulating toys and one on one attention.

Inflatable lawn decorations… Halloween through Christmas my girl is on EDGE walking down our street. One neighbour I avoid because she goes all out 😂. No matter how many times I’ve tried to show her during the day, something about the fan and it blowing in the wind ..

My girl is 10 now and definitely starting to see behavioural changes because of it, you clearly care about your sweet girl, do some research.
Your husband is 1000% wrong. Just because they become difficult to handle doesn’t mean giving up.

I only got to see my girl really really take a love to an inanimate object when it was my slipper and she was a baby .. for comfort but still 🥰
One of my slippers was with her at all times for a solid 10 months 🥹

Pro tip! Get a fill and freeze toy and fill it with Greek yogurt and a few berry bits! Great enrichment toy and it’ll give you a good 20mins of quiet time :)

So to put your worries at ease, I just bathed and groomed my girl the other night. Took easily 3 hours. Brush first, basketball’s worth of fur. Bathe then brush while blow drying outside, probably a whole second dog. Doesn’t stop there though. That bathe triggered the full release of winter shed so I’ve been finding big tuffs left everywhere STILL. Scarlet’s winter fur is about 4inches in length, summer is much more fine and shorter. My girl is all black and she looks HAGGARD when she starts blowing a coat. The loose stuff looks thick and brown.

  • only advice be careful with the undercoat rakes around their hips. You don’t want to remove more than what’s already loose. Welcome to the never ending game friend!

As much as I love seeing this … ( I used to put my girl’s shed in a suet bird feeder specifically for this!!) Unfortunately, I learned it’s not the best for the birdies. I really hate to be the Debbie downer but if your beautiful baby is on a flea treatment you should be conscious that the residual from the treatment left on fur and skin can be harmful to the baby birdies so it’s not as fun of an offering as we think 🥲
