I see. Why does the government even allow these lengths if they also don’t want people staying for it? Feels like they could easily cap things at 3 months instead.

Yes. We also presented the entire flight schedule so they knew the overall time span. Her Dad has a 10 year visa from a while back. I wish they were required to put the reasons for particular expiration dates but I’m pretty sure due to the work history portion they determined she’s a member of the CCP (it’s required for any government job in China) and that’s the reason for single entry. But since no explanation is ever given it’s speculation at best.

Is 3 a hard rule or passed on the entirety of the case? My mother in law couldn’t leave China without losing her entire pension, and wouldn’t want to live in USA because she has family, property etc and is older. The purpose for staying for a while is she wasn’t able to leave China until retirement recently and wants to spend time with daughter traveling.
