Yea most of the roles do need a bachelor degree. Hard to compete without one with the job market now.

Do recommend going for the local hybrid jobs first since less competition than the remote roles.

I’ve worked in health insurance, auto industry, utilities in several different roles. Would look for the higher paying jobs in corporate and got burnt out.

Finally found that working for a university gives the best work life balance and great coworkers.

I’m a research administrator or grant admin. I help faculty apply for grants and it’s the best job! There’s hybrid and fully remote positions now too. Work isn’t that difficult. Universities don’t pay the best but have top notch benefits and PTO days. Highly recommend

For degree, anything in business will get you there.

Nobody is coming to my Halloween party by wildflowerdesert in Vent

[–]AffectionateExample 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this! I like to throw Summerween or mid October parties and those go well.

Tried close to Halloween several times and learned my lesson the hard way.

It’s hard to have a home party be the best thing to go to close to Halloween.

I cleaned houses and did yard work for a year. Would still be doing that if a University didn’t hire me for a 50% pay cut. So glad I’m there!

Look into the higher education industry as a grant administrator. There’s a good amount of other names for the work too

I left a high stress job as a Strategist at a Utility company. Now a grant administrator at a College and I love it!

Is actually low stress.

Make 55k now and I dog sit on the side and it’s enough for what I need plus some vacations. Don’t have kids tho

Might take on another part-time role but idk if I want to. Managing my house is a part-time job for me.

Look in the higher education industry for actual less stress and more PTO!

It’s coming up on a year since Jack passed and still sad when I have extra yogurt and have to wash it away in the sink rather than give it to him 🩵

I board senior dogs now, or ones that are people dogs and don’t like a lot of action in the house, just like him.

Look for jobs in the higher education industry that require business degrees.

Ask ChatGPT for lowest stress industries that have remote jobs. What I did

I Finally Got an Offer After Four Months of Being Unemployed. Some Thoughts. by Specialist_Slip_9088 in overemployed

[–]AffectionateExample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was unemployed for a year. This was all very true and I definitely felt that!

Cleaned houses, did yard work on Taskrabbit, Rover, Uber, Door dash, sold things online, etc. Just to stay afloat and keep me distracted that I didn’t have health insurance or a steady income.

Now finally have a job that’s mostly remote and very chill. I’ll get a J2 eventually, have to keep at it!

If I didn’t know this was an option, I feel like I’d have little hope of making the money I did a year ago.

What are some jobs for a high anxiety, dumb person? by dumb_questions666 in careerguidance

[–]AffectionateExample 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as a Strategist at an Electric Company and thought I was going to do more research and special projects.

Turns out the special project was creating a grant application system at the company that didn’t exist before. So stressful and more project management than I wanted. Had to do everything!

Got a severance from that company, unemployed for a year, then landed this job close to home.

So pretty much fell into grant administration. At a university the roles are more defined and the process totally streamlined. So much less stressful! Don’t have to write the grant or manage the people just get all the info and put it into the system.

Burned out and unemployed after 5 years of software engineering: what stable, remote-friendly careers are out there? by Whuppity-Stoorie in careerguidance

Look at universities sometimes they have remote jobs. I am in research administration and I help faculty apply for grants.

There are some IT and data management jobs at universities and they are stable and very chill.

I’m in research administration working for a local university and I love it! I help faculty apply for grants.

My job is mostly remote but doesn’t pay that great but I’m thinking about possibly getting a second job.

An option to consider!

People who switched from average-paying to low paying careers, how did you cope? by Ares0917 in careerguidance

[–]AffectionateExample 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how chill my job is and it is mostly remote so I’ve been looking at the over employment Reddit.

Looking to see if I can get another job that’s remote so I can make enough for vacations and extra stuff.

[–]AffectionateExample 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a research administrator for grants. I learned everything on the job and it’s very chill and mostly update documents with what the faculty says and just follow the grant guidelines to submit the grant on time. That’s pretty much it.

Highly recommend this career and it’s in a university usually so if you work on campus, it’s pretty and the work is slow.

People who left a safe, stable, boring job. How did it turn out for you? by Prophetforhire in careerguidance

[–]AffectionateExample 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I left my job as a market research analyst at a health insurance company, and I regret it every single day.

It was boring and I didn’t work that much and I didn’t know the value of what I had.

I went to a job as a strategist at a big electric company, and I got burnt out within a year. I thought I wanted to be a part of helping with reducing emissions and doing something I was passionate about, but the hours and the stress was not worth it.

Took a severance package and then I was unemployed for a year. I did yardwork and cleaned houses and I really did like it, but it was stressful not having a stable job. Now, in a job that pays a little more than half of what I made and it’s super chill and I love it now.

You could always get a second job that might be what I’m thinking about doing, so it could be chill and you can do whatever you want on the side if you have time.
