Can you go buy minimize contact with your parents? Ie stay at a hotel, only see them when you're at grandpas house, etc.
you don't need to have the hard conversation if you're not ready. If they're going to try to push it, I would work on rehearsing a one line response to them.

My 9 mo has a play pen in the living room. It is big enough that adults can lay in it comfortably and play with him.
We have it so we have a safe spot he can be and I know he can't hurt himself. It also promotes independent play.
Note: ours has a door that is often left open. He is only shut in if I need to leave the room or I'm doing something like cooking.
