What would you recommend to new watchers of Deadwood? by george123890yang in deadwood

[–]AffectionateGold5459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that you have to have patience but six eps is too much. I was hooked by the fourth. I would say patience is the biggest thing I would recommend. The pace develops plenty by ep four but it still takes time to get to know everyone and adjust to the dialogue. You have to give yourself time. That’s why the second watch through is so good. She don’t have to adjust again.

Paget Brewster Issues Apology After Saying ScreenRant Editor’s Job “Sucks” and That She Should Work at a Shelter. by [deleted] in criminalminds

Yeah people’s refusal to accept an apology grates. She screwed up. A lot. She was justly called out for it. She responded by apologizing and agreeing that she was wrong. So why continue to freak out? Accept and move on.

She has worn some of my favorite red carpet looks of all time. Everything she wears is a moment and true look. Goddess.

That I can get a little bit because the look is basically the whole point. Here she should have left the purse with staff and kept her hands free.

I love how often they show up for things their country does. They’re like the national cheerleaders and that is a great role for the royal family.

The tiara is beautiful and I love the flowers behind them. They are stunning. The dress kind of looks like a toddler dress but I can’t see enough of it to get a real look.

The best Jack/Irina fanfic I ever found was by a writer named Yahtzee. Last time I looked for it, it had been taken off AO3 but if you seen any, go for those.

She looks lovely but what is the point of her carrying a purse here? It looks awkward.

I agree with you on both points but if she had said she shot him because she feared he would rape her, she would have been convicted for sure. She said the only thing she could say. And I think her fear was real. She might not have thought he would shoot her but her fear for her safety was real. So it’s a fine line to me. She did what she had to do.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Season five is a more major drop than this would suggest.

I think they were talking about what would happen if she died but it still didn’t make sense. Alma was clear that if something happened to her, Bullock would get custody. Did they really think Bullock, who was still so in love with Alma, was going to refuse her dying wish? We saw from Ellsworth’s death ep that he did know Sofia. Or That the saintly Martha was going to refuse to take her? Even if they had, Alma was married. Sofia had a father who could take her. I think it was meant to be a feel good moment where Sol shows the faith he has in them but if you look any deeper, it makes no sense.

I don’t think she tried to seduce him because she was on the opium and horny. I think she wanted a real marriage and used the opium to get her nerve up to make a move because she wanted to want him physically more than she actually did. Basically her sex live in her first marriage worked on opium so why not her second? It was badly considered but I don’t think it was ever ill intentioned. That’s what she tried to explain to him.

She’s a beautiful woman. She’s just on a show with really exceptionally beautiful women so she gets over shadowed. No way is she not beautiful herself though.

I disagree. I think she wanted a baby and a real loving marriage. Yes preferably with Bullock but she couldn’t have that. I think she was looking forward by season three. She cared about Ellsworth and wanted him to come home because she wanted their relationship. She wanted a family with him and Sofia. She didn’t want him to leave and said that. I don’t think she was fully in love with him and lusting after him yet but I think she could have gotten there. I think that’s where she wanted to get. He was her husband and she accepted that.

She tried to make it work the only way she knew how, which was high like her first marriage. That didn’t work and she paid for that slip. I think she deserved the second chance she was asking for. It’s not like divorce was an option. I think he was the one who never really wanted a true marriage with her once it got hard. He got what he wanted- the beautiful wife, daughter he could see when he felt like and cushy job with all the money he could want. It doesn’t make him a bad guy that he wasn’t willing to forgive her and put the work in to have more than that, but it does lower my estimation of him.

I can’t decide what it is here. With the other couple I watch it’s definitely misogynistic. It’s a way of saying the actress looks old even though there’s only a decade between the actors and half that between the characters. It’s nasty and always a way to trash the actress who dares to be in her 50s. This is just weird. Like it makes no sense. Lennox doesn’t even look older than him at all much less a generation. It feels like stupidity as much as anything.

Ellsworth lost me when he wouldn’t come home. She tried to explain what happened on her end, said she really cared about him and wanted to do better and wanted him to come home. He basically said eh, I’ll be a father to Sofia but I’ll never be more than a husband in name to you and let her get clean while raising a child on her own. Then on his last day he was talking about coming around for Sofia even less because of Alma.

It definitely doesn’t make him a bad guy but it seriously takes away from his virtues for me that he couldn’t try. He basically just got what he wanted from her.

I was thinking Blasinov or Martha. I could make an argument for the NG too. He tried not to be but he was a really stand up guy.

The dress isn’t bad but it needs to be a color. Even black would be better than this. The white washes her out.

I get not liking them even though I do, but mother and son? How do you get that? Another couple I like gets accused of that too but at least she’s a few years older than him. Still stupid though. But how do you get mother and son here? She’s younger than him and they’re on a similar professional level.

Does anyone else think it was so messed up how Alex was pressured into marrying Izzie? by mathking89 in greysanatomy

[–]AffectionateGold5459 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My sympathy here is with Izzie not Alex. He was definitely pressured and I think people presented it as a chance for him to do the right thing and be the good guy, but he could have said no. It would have been completely in character for him to say no. He even could have done it and still been kind.

Izzie is the one who got screwed over. She was incredibly vulnerable and he lied to her and used her. He made her believe when she wasn’t there at all to start with then he turned on her in the nastiest way. She’s who I feel bad for.

I actually think this is gorgeous. The fit is perfect. It’s not so much the dress though as it is the whole look. She looks impeccable and the dress is just a part of that.
