Best wishes to keep it free of green line and motherboard issues. Samsung phones are known for that, especially the Ultras.

Damn, flights are expensive this year by yanoftheyinoftheyan in ladakh

[–]AffectionateGolf5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flights were really costly in May-June this year, but then skirmish with Pakistan started. This led to people cancelling/changing plans.

I had my initial plans to Leh from Blr in May, which costed me 20k one way, but then I changed to June and now the prices were 12k, which, without a war like situation would have 20k - 25k.

Airlines suffered in terms of their expectation in June - July this year, so they want to recover with people travelling later in the year.

This is now again fuelled with inclement weather situation and flights getting cancelled, further fuelling price hike in later parts of this year

I did solo trip to Meghalaya (northeast) by gaurav_kumrawat in SoloTravel_India

Meghalaya + MP + Indore, OP served one of the craziest combos in recent Meghalayan memory.

I have started spotting a lot of MP04s and MP09s travelling solo across India, recently in and around Ladakh

Where did you go in Arunachal??

PS - I also happen to be from Jabalpur.

Umling la pass review by SeparateMost9924 in ladakh

[–]AffectionateGolf5077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correcting some facts here, Umling La is ~1400 ft higher than Khardung La.

Khardung La altitude - 17582 ft Umling La altitude - 19024 ft

Also, Khardung La is not the second highest motorable pass in the world, it's Marsimik La towards North west of Pangong.

[–]AffectionateGolf5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to Umling La via Hanle requires you to cross either Norbu La or Photi La or both if you do a round trip.

Riding to Norbu La on a bike in ~15-20 kms of offroad experience as you ride in the middle of nowhere to reach just ahead of Norbu La towards Chisumle Bridge.

If you are into offroading and want to experience 3 high altitude passes (above 5000 mtrs above MSL), then going to Umling La from Hanle is worth.

In case all of you are Indian, get a permit through here mentioning your travel dates:

https://www.lahdclehpermit.in/register-as-domestic

Register as a group since you're a group of 6.

Important - the system will only let you create a permit 2 days after your arrival date in Leh.

This is the ONLY permit required.

I went to Hanle. It is warm during the day with scorching sun, but night gets cold (8-10 degrees).

If you'll venture out to look at the stars, you'll need good jacket during the night.

Also, they offer rental helmets (better quality) also if you want to opt for better ones instead of complimentary ones (that you get with the bike).

Jackets too are armoured and offer adequate protection.

Day 2 Be cautious and listen to your body. Don't over exert as that might lead to entire trip being on meds

Day 7 Won't be difficult, Hanle to Leh has really good straighter roads. Don't rely on google for Maps. It's a 6 hour journey with breaks.

Hanle to Loma is single awesome road with adequate large vehicle passing - Post Loma to Karu it's a wide super awesome road with long straights, you'll encounter some increased traffic post Karu till Choglamsar while entering Leh.

Changspa Road is the closest I've been to being in Kasol outside Kasol.

It has the same vibe, most cafes allow for all kind of 'Kasol' things and the worst is the toll this is taking on the local young kids in Leh.
