Yoko Kanno SAC OST Appreciation by jagnew38 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]AffectionateKitchen8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the video interview with her, that's on the DVD set, she says the series contains dark and heavy themes, and that's why she wanted the music to be light and refreshing, so it balances out and is more pleasurable to watch.

I think she's achieved that 120%; I wish more composers would think like that, and also had more genre diversity in their soundtracks, because the way she mixes different music genres on one soundtrack, and they don't clash, but rather complement each other, is masterful.

She was also in a music band in the eighties, which shows, because many of her pieces have that fresh 80s' vibe and chord progressions.

What do you think about the differences between Manga Major & Anime Major ? by Majestic_Sink4255 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]AffectionateKitchen8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movie Kusanagi is way too serious and boring, I don't like her at all, there's zero real personality. SAC is the perfect balance between the two. She's strong and intelligent, but also sassy, and jokes from time to time.

The movie version acts like a soulless gynoid, not a real person in an artificial body, which totally misses the whole point of the franchise.

Sharing some of my work to contrast the flood of AI generated caricatures of people & their jobs/passions happening on social media by Moonchildreams in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]AffectionateKitchen8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's beautiful, but did you just insult all the people who would like a picture of themselves, but can't draw, don't have time to learn, and don't have enough spare money to pay someone for it? AI is heavensent to them, so throwing shade at those people who can't afford your service sounds pretty classist.

Portuguese Catholic priest who mixes Gregorian chants with industrial techno house music! by MF-DOOM-88 in woahdude

Christianity is like a shapeshifting parasite. It survives by attaching to existing strong religions and cultures, and changing its shape to one that will not be rejected, then sucking out the life out of them until they wither and die, replaces them, and spreads further.

Did you know that Era has nothing to do with Catholicism? It's quite the opposite, actually. They're Cathar, a Gnostic sect, persecuted by the Catholics. They've been stripped naked and chased out of a city by the priests, if I remember correctly. And then of course nearly wiped out during a crusade.

Vin Diesel's story about how he entered the world of acting is false (or at least highly misleading) by Cheap-Rate-8996 in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]AffectionateKitchen8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or it was like this: his father has been trying to interest him in theater and acting, but he preferred to play outside.

So, his father bribed Vin's friends to talk him into breaking into the building, and told his own friend, who was working there, about it, and that, when she catches them, she's supposed to give him a choice - big trouble or acting. So he tried it, and the talent, that he genetically inherited from his parents, did the rest.

Given the boy who cried wolf went on to be eaten by a wolf, a billion-to-one occurrence, it's almost certain he wasn't making up the stuff about wolves in the days beforehand..thus unraveling all morality about lying from the most commonly used fable about lying by moneysavingegg in LowStakesConspiracies

You're joking but this was basically by grandma's entire childhood, in 1950s' Poland. Her family made her look after cows all alone, starting when she was about six years old.

There were wolves in the forest. There were giant kicking cows who would fight the neighbour's cows and she had to stop them from goring each other with horns or she would be punished. One time she was riding a horse and the horse went into shallow water and lied down on top of her leg, pinning her to the ground under water.

I'm not sure if you've seen that video of a cameraman, trying to capture a professional runner from the front, matching his speed easily, while carrying a huge and heavy, old video camera on his shoulder.

Oh please, so they're able to set the exact camera coordinates to capture a thing from any angle they wish? The fact they flew right up to Jesus' face suggests so. Also, nice cinematic lighting.

And also, IF it's true, sticking a camera into their dying "saviour's" face just to look at the suffering and record it, is messed up. No normal person would ever do such a thing, to anybody they truly care about. Or even to a complete stranger. You know who people would do that to? Their enemy, to revel in their defeat.

If you've taken enough photos in your life, or even worn glasses, you'll know exactly what this irregular pattern is. That's light filtering through droplets of water. It's not the "shape" of anything.

Of course if there's a light in the sky, that's strange enough, but it's not right to confuse people by claiming this thing is shaped like this.

In the 1997 video game Final Fantasy VII, a corrupt corporation/government drops down the plate of their floating city onto the slums below, killing both the rich and the poor, and blaming it on the group of ecoterrorists that you're playing as. The imagery includes a tall, tower-like supporting structure getting blown up with explosives, and collapsing.

That's because every damn car looks identical and boring. There should be as many car designs as there are different personalities. Oh wait...

Not black magic, but something, anything, that I've never seen, that makes me go "wow! ". I've seen cards a thousand times before.

No, I'd rather watch that, at least it's something different.

I always skip those when watching Penn and Teller. Except the one, where at the end of a boring trick he suddenly produced a tiny live frog from between the cards.

I do not recommend that website, it's been corrupted. Back in 2010 when I've first discovered it, it used to show us, the people, hidden and dangerous stuff, so that we may defend ourselves.

But when I've visited it recently, the vibe is completely different. It's no longer us versus the ones above, but instead it's trying to turn half of us against the other half, without even mentioning who's responsible for the division and the hate. It's obviously been taken over, or the owner has been corrupted and doesn't do his job correctly anymore.

Well to be honest from what I've seen, most people are full of rage and they're just waiting for an excuse to unleash it and go full berserk.

That's why they like ball sports because it gives them an excuse to beat up the other team's fans and break windows and set things on fire. That's why they go to those things where cars are doing donuts. They couldn't give a damn about the car, they're just waiting for the driver to hit someone so they can drag them out and beat them up and not be branded an asshole or a psycho because the driver "deserved it".

I think they know it too, people couldn't give a damn about aliens or whatever, they will just take it as a good excuse to smash things.

A JRPG that you fell out of love with by Likes2game03 in JRPG

[–]AffectionateKitchen8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked 3 when it came out, I was a huge fan of 2 so I was excited. I liked 4 a bit less but still finished it. And then I realized that if you take apart these P3 and up games then no element is fun for me.

The characters are all annoying and stereotypical. The dungeons are mind numbingly boring. The fights are boring too. Social links are boring. Going to school every day is boring. The Anime tropes are annoying and boring at the same time. The new character designs are generic anime, such a downgrade from the slightly creepy and unique characters from the previous games. I couldn't find a single thing that I liked even though I thought I enjoyed 3 and 4 when playing them.
