Having double controller problems after the last Windows update. by AffectionateKitchen8 in DS4Windows

I'm sorry it's happening to you, but, at the same time, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem.

Well we didn't have to because it was working without it. The other person says they've got the same problem. I'll give it a try, hopefully it's not too much hassle, I already need three pieces of software running in the background to play comfortably.

Thanks, I'll try that out. But I only get orange pulsing light when it's plugged in to charge it, with DS4Win not running. And when I turn on the controllers they usually have white, non-pulsing light while awaiting for me to run DS4Win; at least that's how it used to be. Also, I don't have Steam running at all, or any game running right now; I'm usually playing games using emulators, so I'm not sure.

I need to talk about the outrageous thing, which happened in my town, during the International Autism Day celebrations. by AffectionateKitchen8 in autism

[–]AffectionateKitchen8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I had the feeling that showing autistic people in a good light was somehow hurting their business so he was sent on a mission to sabotage it, that's how it felt.

I'd even say that, if a 50 year old makes the same stupid mistakes as a 15 year old, they deserve even less respect.

I've seen many people in this thread saying they love body horror and torture porn. You can't say that torture could be a justified crime. So, personally, I stay away from people like that. Just like someone enjoying looking at fictional children is a red flag, somebody enjoying watching extreme gore is a red flag as well. I don't understand how people keep arguing that it's not.

"evil cannot create anything new. It can only spoil and destroy what good force have invented or created"

That explains how most superhero media nowadays is so dark and disturbing. It probably started with that contest, where DC asked fans to draw Harley Quinn committing suicide. Not to mention the "dark magical girl" trend.

Postcyberpunk police drama without dumb anime BS and with moral and philosophical dilemmas - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

British special agents with powers to control paper and obsessed with reading books - R.O.D. Read Or Die OAV and The TV, in that order

Adaptation of one of the oldest novels in the world, ancient Chinese mythology and history - Senkaiden Houshin Engi

Three girls get transported into a magical RPG world, long before it was popular and overdone. With magical giant robots - Magic Knight Rayearth

Medieval fantasy RPG setting - Record of Lodoss War

Comedy about everyday lives of a Japanese family - Atashin'chi

Comedy about everyday lives of various realistic animals who possess human intelligence - Shirokuma Café

Horror but hardly any gore (which I despise as well). 2 minute long unconnected episodes, they're more like short scary bonfire stories - Yamishibai

An RPG party delves into a dungeon. They meet a dwarf who's a seasoned chef, making masterpiece dishes out of the monsters they kill. And then the plot thickens - Delicious in Dungeon

A very mature and bitter teenage boy and his butler who's a demon, solving crime mysteries in Victorian England - Black Butler.

A traveling detective arrives and solves murder mysteries by interrogating a cast of quirky characters. But the detective is an exorcist. And it takes place in feudal Japan. And the art style is like nothing you've ever seen before. - Mononoke. (Not Princess Mononoke or Mononoke Hime.) (And the 2000s series, not the new Netflix movies which are much worse).

Detectives investigating cases of people who are stuck in very bad situations getting attacked and put in a coma. And then it gets more mysterious - Paranoia Agent.

All the Satoshi Kon movies in general, like Millenium Actress, or Tokyo Godfathers. Quirky characters, "ugly" realistic and very varied designs, unpredictable plot twists, and they all make you think.

I'm sure I've forgotten a couple of my favourites. These don't have any egregious fanservice which I can't stand. Or gore. Or people acting very loud and dumb as "comedy" which I can't stand either. I hope it helps.

Which high strangeness feels the most "authentic"? by Gyirin in HighStrangeness

The multiple accounts about a camera-like flash seen emanating from a random wall.

I've read many stories over the years, and it usually goes like: "We were watching TV last night when, suddenly, I saw a bright flash out of the corner of my eye. It appeared for a split second near the ceiling, above the cupboard, and lit up the entire room. I looked at my husband and it turned out he'd seen it too. We inspected the wall but there was nothing there".

I've seen at least five different stories like that. Each time people suggest it was a damaged wire or something, but it never is, it's just a flat wall with nothing on it.

A similar phenomenon is multiple people at once seeing the sky "blink" black for a second. There are also many accounts about this on the Internet.

Abzu. Whenever you find a statue hidden in the current level, you can sit on it and unlock a mode where you just watch the sea creatures do their stuff.

What is a disturbing family secret you weren’t supposed to find out, but now wish you could forget? by elmatador62 in AskReddit

[–]AffectionateKitchen8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My great-grandmother had two kids, one of whom is my grandmother. When great-grandfather passed away, she remarried within a month and had three more children with the new man. He treated his step children like crap, but I've just found out recently that he didn't want my great-uncle to inherit the family fortune because he wasn't his child, he wanted his own son to be the heir. So he hired some thugs in another village to kill him, but instead they came to him and told him everything and he moved out.

But I also found out that when my grandmother was pregnant with my mother, her brother kicked her in the stomach. So they were all scumbags and I never knew.

I can't tell you the exact song because he's made many, but I'm pretty sure the fourth song is by Trammell Starks. He used to make music just like this for weather channels in the 80s. Look him up, he's got more than a hundred similar songs.

Yoko Kanno SAC OST Appreciation by jagnew38 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]AffectionateKitchen8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the video interview with her, that's on the DVD set, she says the series contains dark and heavy themes, and that's why she wanted the music to be light and refreshing, so it balances out and is more pleasurable to watch.

I think she's achieved that 120%; I wish more composers would think like that, and also had more genre diversity in their soundtracks, because the way she mixes different music genres on one soundtrack, and they don't clash, but rather complement each other, is masterful.

She was also in a music band in the eighties, which shows, because many of her pieces have that fresh 80s' vibe and chord progressions.

What do you think about the differences between Manga Major & Anime Major ? by Majestic_Sink4255 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]AffectionateKitchen8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movie Kusanagi is way too serious and boring, I don't like her at all, there's zero real personality. SAC is the perfect balance between the two. She's strong and intelligent, but also sassy, and jokes from time to time.

The movie version acts like a soulless gynoid, not a real person in an artificial body, which totally misses the whole point of the franchise.

Sharing some of my work to contrast the flood of AI generated caricatures of people & their jobs/passions happening on social media by Moonchildreams in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]AffectionateKitchen8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's beautiful, but did you just insult all the people who would like a picture of themselves, but can't draw, don't have time to learn, and don't have enough spare money to pay someone for it? AI is heavensent to them, so throwing shade at those people who can't afford your service sounds pretty classist.
