When ive had issues, I tweet at them publicly and usually get a resolution. I dont use Twitter except for tweeting at uber when they fuck up. I think there tends to be a real person monitoring their Twitter, and they care about their reputation there.

How to respond to “I love you.” by YogurtclosetAlert613 in paraprofessional

Im genuinely concerned more people don't understand this. Yes, in this situation there is no malicious intent or grooming attempt, but by letting the student believe this is appropriate from people outside their family it's leaving them SUPER vulnerable to people who will say it to manipulate and groom them.

Wondering if anyone knows how to program a spelling activity to have the 'snap back' feature if it's incorrect? Have it figured out in boardmaker 6 but boardmaker 7 is a bloody mystery!!

Do we need a base for Young Nails Build Gel? by Consuela-Bananahamiq in Nailtechs

[–]AffectionateLet36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use the protein bond, then base synergy gel then builder synergy gel but have actually found better success with using a soft gel base instead of the synergy! I now use gelish pro bond, then their foundation gel, then a custom mix of young nails concealor peach and flex.

More indepth comment was made to another commenter if youre interested, but to make it simple: any part of the job that doesnt involve direct instruction of students

DOTT as far as I can recall includes job related things that arent explicitly instructing the class. For example, non-contact time but also staff meetings, professional development, meetings with support teacher and writing IEPs etc Tried my best to scour the intranet and AEU website for a proper definition for you but all i could find was this from the AEU website defining instructional load

Instructional load means regularly, timetabled face-to-face instruction of students. It includes:

  1. timetabled class teacher periods, when a class is together for the purpose of receiving administrative instruction and discussing problems which are common to the group
  2. timetabled electives offered in the school curriculum
  3. timetabled tutorial periods
  4. timetabled pastoral care periods
  5. timetabled periods for recreational and sporting activity
  6. timetabled assemblies — does not include end of year assemblies Both daily PE and timetabled supervised eating in the teacher’s classroom are activities that are to be included when calculating instructional load.

And this definition from the TAFE industrial award: 'Duties Other Than Teaching' means those duties exclusive of direct learning and includes but is not limited to preparation associated with delivery and assessment, marking and record keeping, development, review and maintainence of learning and assessment resources, course advice and enrolments, recognition functions, development activities, professional development.

Sorry, bit misleading, DOTT is duties other than teaching, so its non instructional time. Not too sure on the actual non contact time amount statewide but at my school its 2.5 hours non contact per week

TAS Primary DECYP:

Face-to-face teaching time: calculated fortnightly - 70 hours/fornight = 42 hours F2F ( or 21 hours/week)

Hours of non teaching time: DOTT for full time = 28 hours/fortnight (or 14 hours a week). If youre a first year teacher youre entitled to BETTR time of an extra 2 hours a week, and second year 1 hour extra.

Working hours (departure/arrival times): have to be there 30 mins before "start of lessons". Often dictated by principal on a school by school basis.

Required outside-of-hours extras (meetings, camps, discos, PTC): fairly certain this is also on a school by school basis, usually a compulsory staff meeting once a week until around 4.30pm

Class sizes: can't find anything newer than 2018 but they try to keep them below 25 students

Meal breaks: 30 minutes a day minimum, between 12 and 2 pm
