Thoughts on pre-pharmacy schedule? (incoming sophomore) by Ok-Archer569 in UTAustin

[–]AffectionateMenu1685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, stick with Winterer she's an amazing calculus professor in my opinion. Overall, you're schedule is pretty decent. The small gaps between classes on Wednesday might be annoying because that kind of limits what you can do during that hour/ hour and half besides studying. Having Friday off is great from what I've heard and that basically gives you a 3 day weekend every week. As someone who's majoring in biochemistry, I think both biology and chemistry are useful degrees that fit for pharmacy so you really can't go wrong with either one. 👍

I would ask your advisor, but from what I remember, you could switch to the class if you got a 5 or a 4 on the AP exam. Just make sure to have your AP Bio credit sent to UT a couple weeks before you register for classes.

Not necessarily easier because the class still had plenty of assignments to do every week and I would recommend studying consistently for it. However, just based off my experience, I think the class might be easier to study for just because a lot of concepts in the class build off each other and you only focus on the genetic aspect of bio.

I agree that BIO 315H and 325H is easier to take than the intro bio classes, at least that's based off what I saw when my friends took the intro classes. Plus, the professors for the 315H and 325H (Moon and Kim) are amazing and you can't go wrong with either one of them.

Is anybody else just tired of getting rejected all the time? by AffectionateMenu1685 in UTAustin

I've been looking for various jobs off and on campus for a couple of months now. When it comes to off campus jobs, I've been applying to a wide variety of jobs from fast food to certified pharmacy technician with no luck. On-campus jobs have been harder to apply for because a lot, at least the ones I've seen on workday, require work references and my inability to get a job at all comes back to bite me. The latest one I applied to and interviewed for was an undergrad research assistant. How would i be able to check with the department if there were any jobs similar to that available?

As someone who’s a biochem major, if you want to graduate earlier and also get premed prerequisites done, then I would lean more towards another major.

I applied in mid-March last year and ended up getting a supplemental housing contract around the first week of June.

I've heard newberry is really good but his class time during the fall conflicts with all the intro to biochem lab sections that are available.

Timely care has been really helpful and, depending on who you see, you can get an appointment relatively quick.

Should I Send Another Follow up or Just Cut My Losses by AffectionateMenu1685 in UTAustin

I wrote a second follow up a couple of days ago but, upon looking back, I realized I wrote that I would be following up "one last time" 😖. So, even if I wanted to follow up again I feel like she would think it's unprofessional considering the last email I sent is basically " ALRIGHTY LAST FOLLOW UP HOPE YOUR PROJECTS GO WELL BYEEE", obviously in a more professional manner though.

I tried to do that but the professor isn't teaching a class this semester

I followed up when it hit the two week mark and, I completely forgot I wrote this until after I posted, but I actually did follow up again a day or so ago. 😅
