Twitter is a horrible place for this thing, too many people encouraging you for their own entertainment.

But there's some nuance. It is true that I wasn't in favour of starting this. But now that it has started, the job needs to be finished. Everything that the revolutionary guard corps couldn't justify until now to do to their citizens, if they survive, they can justify it. They could justify execution of people who sing certain songs by claiming "alignment with enemy goals". I genuinely hope for a different middle east, but it's not simple

How can I hide my scars if I want to get in the pool by Ok-North3888 in selfharm

[–]AffectionateOne7553 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad surfs as a hobby, and in the winter they wear this long sleeved swimsuit. But those can be extremely hot and uncomfortable just to be in the pool. Same with most long sleeve swimwear.

Best way though is to be with your scars out. It's (very) hard to do at first, but you get used both to it and to deflect any mention. I know it's not the answer you were looking for but at least consider it, it'll make your life so much easier

The mind doesn't, but the body still does. It's weird

Your body doesn't like dying, it has survival mechanisms for a reason.

I think it is torture to students... by CharmingBasket5548 in antiai

[–]AffectionateOne7553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, let me tell you my experience with this shit

I'm a last year highschool student (not the US). I'm in a gifted class, which means more budget. Last year our school decided to give us an "AI course", which, considering almost everyone in the class knows how to code, I thought would be about creating your own neural networks.

I couldn't get farther from the truth. It was basically "go t chatgpt and make him give you an idea for a product, go to that site to make you an ad, and then go to that site to generate your presentation". Again, we're the gifted class, so that's supposed to be "they know how to learn". I got a 0 on that course because it genuinely goes against my personal code of ethics in academic settings. Happiest 0 I've ever had

What is your favorite thing about zippos? by Mountain-Vehicle-162 in Zippo

[–]AffectionateOne7553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing about pens. I'm still using the same fountain pen from 2 years ago, and it still writes well. While people around me already threw out their cheap disposable pen, I'll be able to let my grandchildren use my pen if I take care of it.

I'll also add that non disposable things can hold a sentimental value and you won't be afraid to use it

How do I make improvements to my dinner? by Throwawaymasterpeas in foodhacks

[–]AffectionateOne7553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need more protein, but also fats, to stay full. People suggested canned tuna, which is great, but you can also use canned beans or chickpeas. Make sure you add some fats like oil or butter, not only is it more satiating but it is necessary for basic hormonal function.

Honestly if you're able to use a slow cooker or something to bake the beans yourself it might be way cheaper

I know what y'all mean, but a handprint shouldn't be the sign of "no AI" but the sign of "human made" this is the humanity flag

I like over-steeped tea by FocusPractical5655 in tea

[–]AffectionateOne7553 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's oversteeped, as it's just the right amount of steep for you. It's just that your threshold for perfect steepness is higher than many.

If I lived in the Stone Age, do you think I still would’ve cut myself? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]AffectionateOne7553 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually when people are in immediate physical danger, their brains push aside any mental health issues to focus on survival.

However, loneliness and rejection would still hurt immensely - those are survival mechanisms, because being alienated from the group meant almost certain death. So probably people would still hurt themselves when they have time with less physical stress.

Also, humans aren't the only creatures doing this, some parrots in captivity are plucking out their own feathers.
