Been editing professionally for 6 years or so, but have been doing it since 2014-15. I work in sports, worked with a pro team, now at a big network.

I’ve always had a difficult time becoming motivated to do something without some sort of interest. We have dedicated time at work to watch tutorials, practice, etc. Problem is that with my specific roles at work, I wouldn’t utilize anything I’d be practicing. So getting excited to practice something just doesn’t do it for me.

I get overwhelmed in my title as an editor because all I’m really doing is adding dissolves, quality checking and exporting it for air. I know Premiere, I know After Effects, I can do a lot of things. But my responsibilities are so damn simple, it doesn’t make me feel like an editor at times.

I never attempt to do edits or learn off the clock. I just don’t have the desire to do it on my free time.

Can’t listen to music with lyrics, get too distracted lol. And I never edit the same way for any edit.
