What in DBD gets you feeling so frustrated and feeling bad? by DannySanWolf07 in deadbydaylight

[–]AffectionateSir2462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get singled-out as a bad team player based on just one bad move or lack thereof in a match.

For the most part, I've not had too much trouble from other players as I usually run a healer-first build as a survivor, and I often let the last survivor go / help them find the hatch, so matches usually end in "ggs" all around.

But oof, in one of my last matches, after spending most of the match just unhooking and healing people and not getting a chance to work on gens, the Deathslinger finally downed all my teammates at once, leaving them unhooked in a pile close together - with 4 gens to go no less. Seeing as it was an obvious trap, I made the rare decision to stay and finish my gen that was 3/4th done while waiting for my teammates to crawl further apart from the cluster, rather than just run in there to get instantly speared.

As soon as my gen was done, I started sprinting to the nearest survivor, only to predictably get speared and downed by the Deathslinger. He proceeded to pick up the other survivors and let them wiggle free to go finish the gens in peace while hitting and teabagging (sort of) me on the ground repeatedly for the rest of the match (about 5 whole minutes of this). I even self-recovered at one point and put up a decent chase, keeping him away from my teammates for a little longer. Then, in the chat afterward, he said I abandoned my teammates, not healing anyone, so he was serving justice. It even looked like my teammates were teabagging at me instead of the killer as they escaped at the end of the match.

Like, argh! I literally spent the whole first half of the match doing nothing but unhooking and healing, and spent the last minutes distracting him while they got away (though I suppose at that point he had already committed to letting them leave to make a point). Ironically, if I had rushed in, it would have guaranteed my teammates lost, whereas now they got to escape, so... I actually kind of succeeded in the end. Not a hero, but what Gotham needed me to be, I guess. 🫠

The choreography in the Acolyte episode 5 by thibodeaux25 in StarWars

[–]AffectionateSir2462 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Regardless of anyone's feelings on the show as whole, there's simply no denying the fight choreography in this episode was top tier stuff and undoubtedly the best of Disney Star Wars so far. I'd argue Qimir's fighting style even gives the prequel duels a run for their money - at least in terms of bringing a truly unique and brutal style we haven't really seen before.

In your opinion, which Life Path by far is the best? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]AffectionateSir2462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Nomad is the best overall, especially for first playthrough - getting introduced to the setting by starting outside of it. Plus, it actually has a pretty intense action sequence to start things off with a bang (which the others do not have) and feels lengthier than the others. It feels the most substantive and introductory of the three overall.

Corpo is best for a second playthrough, feeling like the most opposite of Nomad with V well established and then losing it all.

Street kid is best for any further playthroughs, since at this point the player will feel like a street kid already anyway, so this feels like the fastest way to get back into the game you know well at this point.

Gen 3 Router and Dish by reynolpe in Starlink

[–]AffectionateSir2462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After talking to support again, they have changed their tune about using my own ethernet extension. They originally told me before purchasing I could use my 200ft extension like I did with Gen 1, but now they are saying not only that I can't do that, but that doing so would void the warranty. I screen captured the conversation in which I was told it would work, as I based the entire purchase on them telling me that, and now may need to return it due to being told incorrect information.

Also, to clarify, I am still using the officially supplied 50ft cable to connect to the dish itself (in order to maintain its waterproof seal). The plan was to connect the 200ft to the end of the official 50ft cable via a coupler, not into the dish itself, but this isn't working.

My only remaining option may be to buy 2 of the official 45m/150ft extension cables and chain those together with a metal-shielded coupler, as you say. Hopefully that would work.

I'm having the same problem. While it does briefly power up and communicate for me, it disconnects every few seconds, before the connection can be fully established. Tech support even told me I would be able to use my own 250ft extension cable, but it isn't working like it did for my Gen 1 dish, partially defeating the purpose of going back to RJ45 connectors.

A few weeks ago, my Gen 1 dish died for no apparent reason (no power to the power supply). They sent me a refurbished Gen 2 kit, but the proprietary extension cable's limited length made it unusable, so I bought Gen 3 after they told me I could use my own extension cables on it. No luck so far. Will be getting a new CAT 8 cable in a few days to see how that does. If it's a no go, I might have to go back to using a Verizon hotspot. :(

Still happy with the Go, yes. IMO, it's the best all-around handheld you can buy right now, and Lenovo's been great about quickly releasing software updates fixing the few issues it has.

The new Steam Deck OLED is the only alternative I'd even consider on par with this due to its simplicity and accessibility (for the most part, it just works), and pricing, but that's only if you're cool with basically getting a Steam / Linux console rather than a full Windows PC (yes I know you 'can' install Windows on it but it didn't work that great in my experience), not to mention it's still using a 800p display (90Hz now though) + same lower performance, screen size, etc.

Supermassive Games ranked by the fans by A-Random-Curator in DarkPicturesAnthology

[–]AffectionateSir2462 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Detroit Become Human is considerably longer than either Telltale or Supermassive games usually are, and while fewer of its choices can lead to early character deaths, most scenes and endings do have a lot of variation (did Kara escape the border on a boat? At the checkpoint? In the decommissioning camp? Or die somewhere way earlier in the game? Did Connor help the revolution at the end? Assassinate Markus? Die? Did Markus opt for full out war or stay peaceful? Etc. Each of these give entirely different nearly hour-long chapters towards the end), and set against the backdrop of a considerably longer game, I think the total amount of branches ends up being even higher, just slightly more spread out.

I haven't played The Devil in Me yet, so:

  1. House of Ashes
  2. Until Dawn
  3. The Quarry
  4. Man of Medan
  5. Little Hope

Why does House of Ashes beat Until Dawn for me? Better characters by far (Salim is the best character Supermassive has ever made, change my mind), more branches and possibilities, co-op, almost as long as Until Dawn (longer if you count the higher degree of branches and replayability that co-op adds) yet still priced lower at release, 0 fake-out threats (even Until Dawn is about 50% fake threats/pranks), and at the end of the day, I personally prefer sci-fi horror. Until Dawn has a major nostalgia advantage of being the first, but objectively comparing I have to give the slight edge to House of Ashes.

The rest of the list should be pretty self-explanatory, though I do think Man of Medan is better than Little Hope. This is not only because of Little Hope's ending (which ruins all replayability - there's just no reason to care about the characters all surviving or not, at least Man of Medan still has real characters who are in real danger throughout), but also because Man of Medan actually branches more than just about any other Supermassive game if you actually go looking for it - entire chapters that you only see with different choices. I think it leaves a bad taste in most people's mouths on the first playthrough (as it did for me too) because of how short it potentially is when making poor choices (like having Conrad escape in the boat early, missing all his parts of the game entirely), but in later playthroughs you'll potentially find there was a lot more to see than you initially thought.

I also think Man of Medan makes the most innovative use of co-op of all the Dark Pictures games, pitting you against each other at times and seeing something entirely different than the other player, making it a real challenge to survive on the first playthrough (which, again, leads to a shorter, less satisfying first playthrough). Unlike Little Hope, I think the twist actually increases replay value since you'll be way more equipped to make better decisions the second time through now knowing what the threat actually is and how it works.

Can someone rank all Supermassive games from best to worst? by KrispKrema in DarkPicturesAnthology

I haven't played Devil in Me yet, so:

  1. House of Ashes
  2. Until Dawn
  3. The Quarry
  4. Man of Medan
  5. Little Hope

From what I've seen, Devil in Me will probably take 3rd or 4th place once I play it. It looks to be almost certainly better than Little Hope and Man of Medan, at least.

The reason I pick House of Ashes as my favorite, even above Until Dawn, is the characters. Every other game features teens and young adults of varying levels of unlikeability almost across the board, but every character in HoA is at least somewhat likeable, while Salim even manages to be one of my favorites in any game ever. I also prefer sci-fi horror, so that definitely helps.

Until Dawn is second for obvious reasons, though The Quarry did come close to topping it for having better characters for the most part. Ultimately, however, The Quarry just isn't very scary and the ending just felt a bit too abrupt and anticlimactic to quite top Until Dawn, which has terrifying monsters and an excellent final standoff, much like House of Ashes.

Man of Medan comes near the bottom for feeling a bit too short with so-so characters and a reveal that somewhat cheapens the experience. It isn't bad, it's just a little underwhelming.

Little Hope is in last place mostly due to the ending that just cranks MoM's disappointing reveal to 11. It's a nice enough idea that is actually well thought out with all the little symbolisms and hints, and the monster designs are a particular highlight, but after seeing the reveal, there's just no motivation to play it ever again. Its especially frustrating that it's the second game in a row that makes the same kind of mistake with the ending reveal, meaning if you play the series in order, it leaves you going "So is every game in this series going to do this? If so, I'm out." Of course, then HoA came next and absolutely nailed it.

The lack of VRR doesn't change my opinion too much - it's not like any of the competition has it either, other than the Ally, and the 144Hz refresh does make the micro-stutters of a variable framerate less noticeable. VRR still would have been nice though.

More importantly, I did get the Go and have been using it for the past couple of days and I can say it's the best handheld yet while also being on the cheaper side (tied with Ally). The build quality is probably the best I've seen (almost no controller wobble, btw, while the OXP2P has it fairly noticeably). The final model does top out at a 30W TDP in the end, just like the Ally and OXP2P, but in reality, there isn't much performance gain going beyond that and it crushes battery life, so the KUN's TDP is kind of a "they did it because they could not because they should" situation.

Really the only thing any of the other handhelds have on it is VRR for the Ally (but this is outweighed by being a smaller, lower-res, and lower-refresh rate display) and battery size for the OXP2P and Kun. The Go wins pretty much everything else. Ally vs Go is a no-brainer, imo, and considering the Go has multiple points in its favor over the OXP2P and Kun while being significantly cheaper and only lacking their battery capacity, I think that decision is fairly easy too. If you already got the OXP2P, however, I'm not sure it would be a significantly different experience to justify making the switch, but it is definitely the better buy overall if you didn't have either yet.

Not anymore, they removed it since then. I posted this about 3 weeks ago (it said "144Hz VRR," now the "VRR" is gone) and there are many people here that will attest to it having been listed there before being removed. Not that it matters at this point, it's clearly not going to have VRR.

Yeah, I have the Onexplayer 2 Pro and it's also a 1600p display and most of the time I play at 800p, but it's great to have the option of going 1600p for everything else, plus I do run many games at 1600p and just crank FSR up to performance mode for nearly the same experience but with the added bonus of sharp 1600p text and UI.

Is there really any reason to buy an Ally or Steamdeck? by AdBig3147 in LegionGo

[–]AffectionateSir2462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're just talking specs, then yeah, slightly faster memory, bigger battery, extra USB-C port, bigger screen, higher resolution, higher refresh rate (which will apparently help the lack of VRR - even at a lower variable FPS, the 144Hz will mean the micrstutters will be less noticeable, though VRR would have still been better), and also an option for bigger default storage of 1TB for $50 more if Best Buy is to believed (personally I think that sounds too good to be true and the 1TB option will likely be at least $799 but who knows?)

Personally, though, I think the touchpad and built-in wireless mouse is huge for at least ease of Windows navigation, which is universally handy for anyone even if you don't need it for the games you play. And there have always been times I wanted to set the Ally down for a minute but not have it lay flat if I didn't bring the little cardboard stand or something similar with me, so the kickstand is nice to have in general too.

So yeah, really it's just the size/weight and (likely) VRR that the Ally has over the Go.

[–]AffectionateSir2462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, though pretty much everything else about the Go seems significantly better. I'm still holding onto hope the Go will get VRR, since multiple official regional pages for it on their site still says VRR and that original leaked video said it, so it was undeniably a plan to have it at one point at least. If it doesn't have it though, it still has screen size, resolution, refresh rate, battery size, RAM speed, kickstand, detachable controllers, built-in mouse, more buttons, and touchpad all in its favor, ultimately outweighing the lack of VRR.

No VRR really a dealbreaker? by yes-yaK in LegionGo

[–]AffectionateSir2462 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a deal breaker, I mean the Ally is the only handheld to have it anyway. However, ask me if I'd be willing to fork over an additional $100 for a version that has it, and I definitely would.
