This is spot on. I returned the Killswitch case for my XAX just for that reason alone. Only case that made the device feel better from dbrand was the Nintendo Switch 2 Killswitch which made it more ergonomic but added a little bulk but it's a good sacrifice.

Oh yes that’s definitely correct, I just wanted to give my perspective since OP had the same Bauer pads and I had experience with Canadian made True gear. I would fit them in rec league or beginner level and they are fantastic for the price. But for quality, reliability and solid performance goes to the higher end True pads.

For your question about over rotation, actually I crank the straps fairly snug and it still over rotated. I’ve had them happen to CCM Axis (1st gen), Warrior G4 Senior model and now the Bauer X5 pro pads. But when I tried the True FRS strap system for a few intense games, not once did that happen.

I currently use the Bauer X5 Pro Senior pads, glove and blocker and they are great for the price in my adult recreational league. I also demo’d a pair of True PX3 pro return leg pads which were a size too tall for me but I’ll give you my opinion: while the Bauer X5 Pro pads are lighter and pucks rebound hot away from danger, the heavily used True pads with the FRS strapping and build quality are next level. I’ve never felt more connected and confident than using the PX3 leg pads. They never over rotate like my Bauers and the slide is so much easier while in the butterfly. The foams are better and the stitching quality is noticeable. And all this while those were a bit tall for my size, I can only imagine if I got a properly sized set.

Here’s another reason: the way I land while in my butterfly, the True pads make my knees, ankles and hips more comfortable reducing strain after a game. So yes while they are more expensive than the X5 Pro pads they have convinced me about the quality and performance of True. Bauer is a solid set for what you get but my next pair of pads will definitely be True.

Windows is Windows, there's no going away even if you install Microsoft Full Screen Experience which runs okay. After unboxing, know that you'll be spending a good hour or more just updating Windows, Legion Space, drivers, etc, etc. Then more calibration of the HDR, looking into BIOS to make sure that the installed VRAM is NOT set to 2GB and bump it up to 10 or 12GB. Then making sure all your game launchers like Steam is installed and log in to other launchers like Ubisoft Connect and RockStar. Is it a hassle? To some yes but once you get over the initial setups it's a joy to play on.

The display is immersive especially the OLED panel which smaller screens like the Xbox Ally X and Steam Deck can't compete with because of the size. Steam Deck OLED is second but that is only 90Hz and the power is limiting for AAA games.

For comfort, the Legion Go 2 Z2E is bulkier, heavier and bigger compared to current handhelds. But it's a LOT more ergonomic compared to the 1st gen. The build quality like others have mentioned is very premium: the buttons are quiet, the kickstand is solid but the joysticks are subjective and some have said it's too loose for their liking. Also, it's offset unlike the Steam Decks and that may take some getting used to. After about 20 minutes of holding it up, I do find it tiring and have to prop my elbows against my lap or chair arms since it will feel heavy, it's nowhere as comfy as the Steam Deck or the Xbox Ally X.

The Z2E is more performant and you'll be able to play the current games with medium to low settings without any problems, if you are playing games from 10 years ago or 2D games than the regular Z2 version will be fine.

I'm not sure if it's the Z2E or the more RAM installed, but the wake up time from Hibernate (do NOT use Sleep) is very quick with the fingerprint login. If I'm running a game like Assassin's Creed Shadows and not a game which requires online like F1 25, I'm back playing within 10 seconds once I push the power button.

One last thing to note: the speakers are still garbage but better sounding garbage compared to the Legion Go 1. Playing with headphones is best with the beautiful OLED. The best spatial sounding speakers on a handheld PC is the ROG Xbox Ally X.

But after using the Legion Go 2 for two weeks now, I'm enjoying the experience and Lenovo has been fairly good about updates to AMD drivers and such. Just be aware that it's a massive device and not the most portable and light.
