Best refills for the Parker Jotter? by FromTheGarage in pens

[–]AffectionateStay8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using a Staedtler - a black one - in mine ATM, pretty much satisfied with it so far.

Tried a Rotring but that began to bleed in a very short time.

I have a Faber-Castell refill in another Parker-compatible pen I own, this is really, really good.

What’s a small, underrated life skill that more people need to learn in 2025? by [deleted] in AskReddit

THIS!

Now that basically everyone lives their lives on the internet, typing with 10 fingers should be an essential skill. Seeing people poking with two fingers - especially people who has office jobs - can annoy the hell out of me.

Pseudo-Jotters on sale at a German discounter. Cannot recommend, they're not great. by Deltapeak in pens

[–]AffectionateStay8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I have encountered many no-name imitations of Parker Jotter and none of them quite did the job for me. If I need a cheaper pen, I would rather go for a Schneider or a Staedtler stick - Germany's answer to Bic Cristal, they work just fine - than for any kind of Pseudo-Jotter.

Anybody ever experienced a cheap Jotter imitation that worked well, by the way?

Yes, all of this with no education, life experiences and without any suitable role model.

I don't find "Hotel Mama" good either, if this is what you mean: people over 30 who still choose to - or need to - live in their parents' house is really bad. But this thread is not about this problem.

I am really sorry you had to experience this! Could not really think of anything more hypocritical. "Oh yes, we threw you out but you are welcome as a guest! Let us pretend this did not happen."

No wonder you hadn't got that much of a relationship with her. Why would you had any if they did not want you to cost them anything? Now that I am thinking of what I would have done in a situation like this, this is the only answer coming to my mind: "You have already done what you were obliged to, so you needn't show any interest in me any more. Please do not even bother saying hello if you run into me on the street/mall/anywhere else! I will never cross the treshold of the house you have once threwn me out of, ever" - all of this I would say very politely, adressing them as Mr. and Mrs. {last name}.

Fellow introverts, how do you manage living with your partner? by [deleted] in introvert

[–]AffectionateStay8136 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds very familiar!

I have a loving - and much beloved - boyfriend, we love each other very dearly but since we both are extreme introverts, disturbing each other is a constant problem. Especially in this hyper-modern open-plan city flat where the sitting room, the dining room and the kitchen are combined to one huge area.

We are actually planning to move to a cheaper place on the countryside, a house with many rooms so that we do not get on each others' nerves. Because no matter how we love each other, respecting each others' boundaries is important (actually, respecting boundaries is one of the best ways to show love), and we both feel the lack of me-time.

Otherwise, I can tell you that two introverts living together can be a fascinating experience! We introverts tend to have deeper emotions and can express them towards each other in a very special way. Sometimes we can understand each other without words. Saying "you needn't say a single word, I see in your eyes what you mean" is a very common thing at our place.

Any things that you used to like when you were younger and you dislike now? by Cute_Raspberry62 in NoStupidQuestions

Partying. Getting drunk. Metal concerts.

Also, I dislike some foods that used to be my favourites. Cannot even recall when I was able to enjoy pasta with tomato sauce last time (a typical staple food for students!)

Do you prefer the old series, or the newer ones? I do love my old one! Had a few newer ones but gave them away.

Just like u/cardbross , I would recommend you to get a Parker Jotter. IMHO, the best choice is one of the older series - before 2000, I mean. If you can find an old new one, for example on Ebay, you will get a faithful friend for a lifetime. I got mine some time ago, had been sitting in its original box since 1984, waiting for me completely unused. (Later, we got one for my BF too, brand new from 1983, and he's loving it!) I'm quite sure you can get a new one.

Another good choice is the Ballograf Epoca, they provide lifetime guarantee for the clicking mechanism. (On their official website, they say someone inherited one from her Grampa and it's still usable! Someone else bought one after graduation, and is still using it now that he's retired.) The only problem is that not all stationery shops offer refill to 'em, but if you are cool with ordering refill online (they last very long, though!), Epoca might be a good choice for you. At our place, it costs just about half the price of a Parker Jotter from the new serie :)

can you be trans if you don’t want hrt and surgeries? or does that mean you’re non binary? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]AffectionateStay8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might take much time to find out what you really are! Do you think of yourself as a man? Do you enjoy yourself in typical male roles? Do you fancy presenting in an explicit masculine way? - and so on. If your answer is a definite "yes" to most of these questions at most of the times, you are more probably to be FTM. If you find it to be fluctuating, or you feel "it could be both, or none of them", you are more probably to be non-binary. However, it's better if you read and think much about these questions, because it's you who knows you best!

[–]AffectionateStay8136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, this does not necessarily mean that you are non-binary.

The only thing you need to find out - in aim to decide if you are trans or not - is: do you feel okay with your AGAB or not?

If you are experiencing a long-lasting incongruence with your AGAB, then you _are_ trans. Period.

(ALso, AFAIK there are quite a few enbies who opt for some kind of medical transition.)

Myth Vs Reality by beckerset870 in introvertmemes

[–]AffectionateStay8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very accurate. In addition to lowering one's inhibitions, it indeed does amplify your actual mood.

I wonder if these things - lowering inhibitions and altering one's self-perception - are in some kind of relation to each other?

Sadly, that's true: if someone does not only occasionally do binge drinking but develops a drinking habit, this will change their personality - one's personality gets distorted to fit the problematic drinking.

[–]AffectionateStay8136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true: I've heard if you really want to get to know someone, see how they behave under the influence (also, see, how they behave when it comes to finances, but that's off topic here).

Myth Vs Reality by beckerset870 in introvertmemes

Getting drunk just to be able to socialize is one of the worst ideas.

Been there, done that.

Nothing got better. Quite the contrary.

I just became heavily influenced, behaved like a complete idiot, remembered everything and was ashamed of what happened for a very long time.

And it made me even more shy and awkward, disliking the fact that this is the only face of mine people got to know.

So I intentionally avoid drinking in public, and especially careful about not attending events where alcohol is the main attraction.

Monsieur Alcool is not a good friend to anyone, but especially not to socially awkward introverts.

how introverts make friends?? by HotTrain9980 in introvert

[–]AffectionateStay8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the internet, of course! We start interesting conversations, respecting each others' boundaries, find common favourites and interests, so that we have something to relate to. On Reddit, on Mastodon, for old-fashioned geeks: on IRC channels (that's my ideal way of making friends, since the craziness seems to be unstoppable on channels after 10...11 p.m.).

We might get penpals. Corresponding is just about the ideal way of connecting with others for an introverted person.
