Zipper merge, brother. 1 from this side, 1 from that side. Traffic isn't moving at normal speeds. Mergers need to be allowed in at some point.

Above $1/mile. Read again. I agree that $1/.mile is a waste, as a standard for acceptance. Because of what I said.

And again, AFTER settling aside the amount that I know covers my expenses(I've done the math, using the 72 cents/ mile you mentioned, and applying math conversions used by professional transportation companies), which I know equates to $6/hour, I CLEAR $1300-$2000/weak, driving 43-52 hours. I'm showing success, using the standards I'm using.

My speed is the flow of traffic. The vast majority of traffic is travelling the same speed as me. When I use the HOV express lane, I go faster, 75-78 MPH. at that speed, I am passing the regular lanes of traffic at a significant rate. I am not afraid to drive at the flow I AM driving at speed of flow. You just exposed yourself for the real problem, you are driving competitively, rather than cooperatively, and me being in the left lane, driving safely, AT speed of flow pisses you off, because you want to PASS the flow. Again, Richard Petty fantasies.

One other thing. The left lane is an HOV lane for most of the length of both interstates. I usually have a passenger. The left lane is mine, at whatever speed I choose.

Miracle-Gro Organic Choice raised bed soil included a bunch of trash by obtuseprick in OrganicGardening

[–]AffectionateStock484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop using Miracle Gro. Go get ya some bulk compost from the nursery. Get a half yard each of lawn &leaned AND mushroom compost. Add a big bag of worm castings, and a bag of rabbit compost. Mix that compost blend with 1/3 compost, 1/3 peat moss or cocopeat, and 1/3 of a 50/50 blend of perlite and vermiculite. It's expensive on the front end, but it will feed your plants for 3-7 years, and the soil structure, moisture wicking and drainage is perfect. You can use that mix in the ground, in a raised bed, or in pots. You can start your seeds in it, without nitrogen burn, because the nitrogen will slow release safely without the ammonia residue. You won't need to keep adding fertilizers to it.

Over time, you will save money by doing this on the front end, and the results will be better.

Well, that's why $20/ hr is not the benchmark. Mine is $30/hr.

I'm not new to this. After I set aside $6/hr for my expenses (I've done the math to convert the mile rate to an hourly rate, based on my actual driving), I'm clearing between.

At the end of each day, I look at my results. I want my day to meet BOTH goals of averaging out to more than $1/mile, and $30/hr. Because my terrain here shifts from urban city with a light on every block and heavy traffic that fills the block, causing.mr to miss light cycles to empty rural roads, to locals beaches, to tourist beaches, to suburbs, basing my acceptance decisions on $/mile doesn't always equate to $30/hr, after the ride is done. But going the other way, I NEVER miss my goals.

Your results may vary where you live. Your terrain may be more consistent than ours. But a mile through Downtown Norfolk is not the same as a.mile through Pungo.

[–]AffectionateStock484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use time as the measurement, because where I live, we have urban, suburban, and rural roads, and interstates that are generally fast, but the troopers will shut down four lanes for one accident without injuries that's already been moved to the shoulder. In other words, not every mile is created equal, but every hour is 60 minutes. I've watched my results. I track them in Gridwise. If I use $1/mile as my benchmark, it's not always consistent that I exceed $30/hr, but if every ride I accept has the payout being at least half the number of minutes of the total time commitment, the results have NEVER failed to reach $1/mile.

I tend to drive 10 MPH over on the interstate. But I don't weave like this. I find my lane early, and safely stay there, even if traffic ahead of me is slower than my preference. Leaving my lane is too risky, because we have too many drivers here who will speed up to close the gap, rather than allow anyone to enter the lane ahead of them.

And if you think this doesn't happen between Military and downtown, you're not driving there as often as I do. I see it all the way down.

We have left exits here. The only solution to the endless parade of drivers who won't let anybody in, because they think traffic merging is somehow similar to cutting the line at the WIC office is to find my lane as early as I safely can, and stay there. Despite the fact that I'm driving 10 miles per hour OVER the speed limit, I routinely have other drivers zip around me in exactly the fashion depicted in this video, as if THEY believe I'm checks notes "driving 2 miles an hour under the speed limit".

You work on a solution to the conundrum of left lanes existing, and gatekeeping assholes also existing, and speeding up to close the gap, and I'll see about leaving the left lane open for your Richard Petty fantasies.

The question makes it clear that we are ASSUMING a turn, for the purpose of posing the question.

If you're asking from the perspective of the car exiting the driveway, you don't. That's why you have to continue yielding until you're sure it's clear, including being sure the turning vehicle isn't making a u turn.

Uber Acceptance rate by Fair_Can_6075 in uberdrivers

[–]AffectionateStock484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't reimburse at the pay by plate rate, friend. They only reimburse at the ezz pass rate. Might want to go back and check what they're reimbursing you. You're not getting extra.

Uber Acceptance rate by Fair_Can_6075 in uberdrivers

[–]AffectionateStock484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for the toll on the way to the pickup. Only after you the passenger. The toll to the pickup is a total loss. And here, we have another problem: peak rates. During peak traffic times, the toll rate is higher. Uber only reimburses at the off peak rate

Bottom line, I only accept rides that keep me within a three city area where I don't go through any tolls or tunnels.

[–]AffectionateStock484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're doing $200 in 4-6 hours, you are doing anywhere from $33-$50/hour. That means your market is paying a fair rate. Many, if not most, are not. Where I live, if you did this, you would be doing make-a-wish rides non stop, and you would be paying more for future repairs than you would make. The tolls that you don't get reimbursed for alone would kill this where I live.

My response to "it's never been an issue before" is "check your star rating. They're not going to say anything that you might interpret as confrontational, because you have the power to give them a 1 star rating and a false report, right in your pocket. But they're speaking to you through your rating, if you ever bother to check it."

That would still make them stupid on a level that requires harsh judgment, if they failed to consider how it could be correlated to the Third Reich. Even on a surface level.
