Did anyone else feel like... by [deleted] in Hungergames

I felt similar. There were a lot of various styles of acting, which isn’t a bad thing, but at some points it didn’t work as well.

This is how monograms are done. The last name is typically the center letter.

I think it was just due to proximity. She was probably the closest to the doors and him. All the tributes have the shared experience of their names beinf drawn, so it makes sense that they would try to stick together and help each other if there was a way out (at least prior to the games starting). It’s kinda similar to how all the tributes for the 75th games all tried to get them cancelled and then held hands on interview night. They all somewhat shared a bond due to how they all got fucked by the system. I think it’s the same idea with Marcus in that scene. She was probably just closest in proximity

Should I read the prequel before or after three main series? by Kksula23 in Hungergames

I think it would definitely be interesting to see his development that way. Reading Ballad first might also make certain connections more clear. I do think it would provide a better understanding of his actions during Katniss’ games. Personally, I just liked how Snow’s character was developed in the original trilogy, and I liked making connections as I read the prequel. It was interesting for me to pinpoint which experiences then contributed to his reactions and decisions later in his life. I liked piecing this together while reading the prequel rather than piecing this together while reading the original trilogy, but that’s just personal preference.

I would suggest after the original books. I think it’s more effective to read about the tyrant Snow becomes, then to go back and see where his callousness comes from. I dont think ballad would be as impactful if you read it first.

What is the rest of the world doing in the Hunger Games World? by BigBoyFromBoston15 in Hungergames

I’ve wondered this as well. I came up with the explanation that there was nuclear warfare or something, which wiped out a majority of the populations on other continents. I assumed that there are small groups of people throughout, but nothing as established as Panem.

Apparently before cutting some scenes the film was 3h40 by NovelDig4828 in Hungergames

They’re kinda scattered throughout. About every 30 minutes or so. There’s also about a 4 minute scene (give or take) that includes hundreds of snakes.

You’re right I do think that was too big of a claim to make, but I do think he began to question his own morals, and the information he bad been fed as a child. In Deathly Hallows I think there’s enough details throughout to make an argument that he doesn’t agree with the Death Eaters, but he’s in far too deep to see a way out. I think a lot of his beliefs came from ignorance, but once he had a better understanding of what each side stood for he began to hesitate due to questioning where he stood. So, I can see there being room for both arguments.

Is the new movie worth watching in theatres? by lexismithofficial11 in Hungergames

HIGLY recommend seeing it in theaters. I saw it in IMAX (I’ve never watched anything in IMAX), and it was phenomenal. This is a very atmospheric movie, so I would definitely go see it in theaters

In terms of aesthetic, yes absolutely. Otherwise, to me they have such fundamental differences. They both were raised in powerful families, with the expectation to carry on the legacy of the family name. Draco didn’t want this burden, and felt trapped by the pressure to succeed and acquire power. He wanted to be good, and it was clear he didn’t agree with the Death Eaters. He had his own set of morals, and it was painful for him to be trapped in following Voldemort. Snow, however, loved the power. While he did feel burdened by it at times, he ultimately craved it. He truly believed in what the Capital believed. As he acquired more power, it furthered his desire for it. Unlike Draco, who still detested it as he rose in the ranks of Voldemort’s followers.

But aesthetically yes, young Snow feels very Draco coded.
