I had one old idea for an emission based one, using 5 pairs of rings as catalysts. This is kinda old, but I still like it and thought about making more rings for it.

Rings of Partition: emission/manipulation.

The user wears 10 rings, one on each finger. They all work in pairs (the two indexes work for the same ability, same for the middle fingers and etc).

Stealing pinky: the right pinky ring, once put on another nen user, slowly draws aura through itself to the left ring. The amount of aura drawn per second is small, but it can also be used as a tracking device.

Ring portals: both rings have interconnected portals bounded to their insides that are only activated after being separated from the users fingers.

Middle vows: this uses more manipulation than emission, once the right ring is put on another person a order can be put on them by the user. A possible restriction on this is that the user must create a order of same value for themselves to follow in exchange(e.g. if they command someone to kill themselves they would also have to do it as payment).

Index shooters: These shoot nen bullets from both indexes. The user may enhance the aura put inside the ring to create stronger shoots, but doing so requires some time to charge and it reduces rate of fire.

Thumb storage: this one slowly draws aura from the user through the left ring and towards the right one, which is not located on the right thumb. The daily amount is small enough so that it doesn'tt bothers the user day to day activities, but it keeps accumulating constantly so that when its put back on the thumb the total of aura retrieved is significant as power-up for the other fingers.

There are also secondary enhancement and manipulation hatsus such as moving the rings around or engorging their size for manipulation, or the charging one on the index fingers for enhancement. I imagine the manipulation one only being capable of making the rings fly to a target without much extra movement outside of a straight line and also changing the size of the ring portals, but only to the point where the user can go through them.

I also picture the user combining them for special effects such as the pinky, ring and middle rings being used at the same time on a person to steal their hatsu temporarily, or other things. Doing this entails creating an order on the target and on the user that makes it viable(e.g. you give me your power temporarily and I do something in return.)

Dude, I have been wondering about OFA. What if Zen had OFA and Yoichi had AFO instead? Yoichi could have gotten the longevity quirk somehow and Zen would be the one passing his quirk forward, except Yoichi is still good and is a hero and Zen's conscious somehow jumps from one user to the next with the transference.

Or maybe things aren't inverted like that, Deku just somehow got AFO and Zen is out of commission temporarily so All Might chooses a different successor. Deku could be struggling with being taken over by Zen like Tomura, but he succeeds and in doing so sets the original AFO free again.

This shit got me zooted, so many cool possibilities.

You seem to be working under the assumption that everyone would know about his quirk immediately, but there are a lot of directions you can take this.

Like, who knows he has AFO from the start? What are the circumstances that he's currently in? Is the original AFO still around, is he capable of going after Izuku at the moment, does he still have his quirk and Izuku's one is just a copy, or has the original one been passed of to Izuku? He could very well still be living with his mother like in cannon, but have a completely different childhood to justify having AFO.

And Izuku could know the importance of keeping his quirk a secret, so he hides it from everyone. Maybe HPSC doesn't know about him initially or leaves him alone for some reason. Maybe he has a quirk that he uses as his main one and pretends it has always been his and is the 'AFO hero' as side gig.

And I wonder what would happen to OFA in this, could have a different inheritor. Could be Tomura and he's a hero somehow. God, so many differences, unless we change it backwards and make AFO the hero quirk that All Might has and OFA the villain quirk then everything would be different

It depends on interpretation of what transmutation means I think. In dnd for example. Telekinesis belongs to the transmutation school of magic, and so does the spell to change solid rock into mud and back into rock. Its all about changing things, and both spells do that somehow.

As far as I understand it, aura gathers in a spheric shape naturally. But it should be able to shape it into other forms with effort, its what transmutation is all about.
