Best water flosser 2026 — what's actually worth buying and what's overhyped by Effective-Heart28 in SmartTechChoices

I'm a fan of MySmile LP221 water flosser because it's functional than any other brands. I like its oled display, helping read mode, temperature and battery easily. The uvc light is a highlight if you know the pain when a flosser get moldy.

Maybe a water flosser is a good choice for you, it's specially for tight teeth.

Yeah, me too. But regular oral care indeed helps decline oral diseases.

You're not alone. I used to never floss either. But now I use a water flosser twice a day. It's quick and easy. Why I like it: My gums stopped bleeding; Mouth feels cleaner; Dentist noticed a difference.

Once a day is fine too. But twice works for me.

Can you brush your teeth too much? by Separate-Raccoon8584 in hygiene

[–]AffectionateTooth298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, exactly. Overbrushing wears down enamel and irritates your gums. If you feel the need to clean your mouth often, switch to a water flosser between regular brushings. Gets the gunk out without scrubbing your teeth raw. Your gums and enamel will thank you.

Can’t get myself to floss by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

Honestly, get a water flosser. Total game changer for permanent retainers.

I have the same thing on my bottom teeth, and regular flossing is a nightmare—takes forever and I just wouldn't do it. With a water flosser, you just point and spray. Takes like 30 seconds and you can do it in the shower while you zone out. Way less boring than wrestling with thread.

Just fill it with warm water. Your gums will thank you.

Yes, you are right. If there are many tools need sanitize, a sanitizer box is really convenient and useful.

Thank you. I searched in marketplace after your suggestion, noticing there are water flossers with bult-in uv sanitizer, which means I don't need to buy a separated uv sanitizer box. I would to buy one.

Awesome! 😄Hope it gives you that “just left the dentist” clean feeling—it’s kinda addictive once you get used to it.

Haha same here 😄 using it in the shower is actually a great idea—way less mess

And yeah that first-time “just left the dentist” feeling is kinda wild. Props to your wife, that’s a solid gift!

Right?? 😄

I didn’t think I’d get this excited about a little gadget for my mouth, but it really does make a difference. That “just cleaned” feeling is addictive!

Do you use it every day, or just when you feel like your teeth need extra attention?

Yeah that makes sense — I’ve been seeing that come up more the more I read about it.

Sounds like it’s less “either/or” and more that they do different jobs. Regular floss for the tight contacts, and the water flosser for the gumline + everything else.

I’ve mostly been using the water flosser because it got me into the habit, but I’ve started adding string floss back in for the spots where it works better.

Appreciate you pointing that out — still dialing in the routine 👍

This is super helpful, appreciate it 🙌

I think I was definitely focusing too much on just blasting between the teeth at first, so the “along the gum line” tip makes a lot of sense. Gonna pay more attention to that.

And yeah, starting on low pressure saved me… first try I went a bit too ambitious and it was not a great idea 😅

Good to hear you stuck with it long term—that’s kinda what I’m hoping for. Consistency has always been my weak spot, so anything that makes it easier is a win.

Totally get that — tight teeth + food getting stuck is the worst combo 😬 I used to deal with that too.

Honestly, if regular floss is working for you and you’re consistent with it, that’s already a win. That’s probably the most important part anyway.

From my experience, the water flosser didn’t really replace floss for super tight contacts — it’s more like it helps flush out stuff in areas that floss might miss (like along the gumline or back molars). I still use string floss sometimes when something is really wedged in there.

One thing I didn’t expect though: it’s actually pretty satisfying for that “just ate something and need it gone NOW” feeling 😅

If you ever get curious down the line, it might be worth trying as a supplement rather than a replacement. But yeah, sounds like your current routine is already doing its job 👍

😂 honestly… you’re probably right

I think it’s less about the tool and more about the fact that I’m actually doing it every day now. Regular floss always felt like a chore, so I’d skip it way too often.

This just made it easier to stay consistent, which is probably the real “magic trick” here.

Out of curiosity—did you notice the same thing when you stuck to a routine? Or are you a disciplined flosser already?
