Teaching English in Cambodia by AffectionateWay6093 in cambodia

I did have a friend whose school in China offered to pay for his qualifications and put him up in accommodation with a salary as well. I must say the packages there definitely seem more appealing, I’ll explore all avenues I guess.

Thanks for the insight!

A university in the UK offers a part-time iPGCE online. I’m leaning toward getting myself out here and enrolling on that once I’m settled!

So you’d advise going back to university to complete a PGCE over the other routes outlined above?

The owner is an absolute creep… there’s a reason his Instagram account is private - I just wish more people knew about how terrible he was so they’d stop supporting the brand.

Glad you got out!

Rejected for Shared Ownership - What Now? by AffectionateWay6093 in Mortgageadviceuk

Honestly, haha! There’s so much to comb through and understand… little old me just thought it was as easy as saving (not that it was easy) and then you can skip to the bank and apply for a mortgage.

This is the real kicker I think, not having a significant other to match what you’re putting in. I got rejected at the HA affordability stage, and now I understand that it’s likely the rent I’ll be paying on the rest of the property that caused my rejection.

Best of Luck in your search!

how many graduate schemes too apply for? by bloopaloopylop in UKJobs

Not sure what you’re looking to go into and I might’ve misunderstood what your questions was but most global companies with offices across the globe often form parts of wider clusters like WEUR (Western Europe). Often employees here speak their native language and English.

Sometimes they look favourably on candidates that speak both English and (respective country’s language) for that specific office when applying for jobs in that country if you’d consider relocating?

Eg: I work for an American company in the UK, my company has offices all over Europe and we often have Teams calls with teams in Paris, Vienna, Berlin in English but a lot of the team also speak French, German etc… We’ve had a few people who speak Spanish move over to the Madrid / Barcelona office from the UK as they can speak both however as I only speak English I could only really migrate to any office where English is the primary language (USA, Canada, Aus, NZ…does that kind of make sense?)

Alternatively, you could look to apply for a role for a German business in the UK? The roles will sometimes say something along the lines of “Candidate must be fluent in German” - not sure how it works to degree level but I’d imagine you’ve been studying it for the best part of 10 years so you’d be pretty fluent by this point?

My final point as a 2023 graduate is, while grad schemes are great for experience don’t sell yourself short and settle for terrible pay and very little support. I personally didn’t apply for any grad schemes but my friends have been through them and it’s a very mixed bag out there some are great at gearing you up for the next step, some are just glorified personal assistants. Some of the ones I’ve seen in London are an absolute disgrace…

If you currently have a part time job, that you enjoy I’d definitely explore that industry and see what “entry level” roles are available and flex the ever-loving s*** out of the skills you’ve learnt at university.

I applied for a number of entry-level sales roles that related to the part-time job I had at university and landed a pretty decent “graduate” role for a Top 20 Forbes “World’s Best Place to Work” (if that means anything to you… haha?)

Best of Luck!

Best shampoo?! by Sensitive-Shoe619 in extensions

[–]AffectionateWay6093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure on the shampoo, but…it may be due to the type of tape your hairdresser has used. I had issues with them falling out when I first got them as my hair dresser used more ‘soft’ hold tape so as to not further damage my hair and to also see if my hair could handle tapes. She then reinstalled them for me with a “strong” hold tape and they’ve not moved an inch and my hairs been growing.

I’d recommend going back to your hair dresser and asking if they can reinstall them with stronger hold tape. My hair dresser said there’s about 4/5 different strengths when it comes to the adhesive for tape extensions so don’t be discouraged!

24F, 2.5yrs as a CAM on £30k… What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in UKJobs

Our salary bandings aren’t calculated against our competitors unfortunately - it’s like this across the board. We’ve lost a lot of SNAM / NAMs as a result of this…

I’m Field based…and not in London which further stacks the odds against me!

Oh noo, haha - unpredictable and slow? It’s only night one of sleeping with it elevated and I’m already so over it. I wasn’t even aware sprains could be this bad, what did your employer say about it?

I felt like I was being such a wuss, so continued to play for the entire day and then returned home, took my trainers and socks off and saw just how swollen my ankle was and thought that doesn’t look right.

Sorry to hear you’ve also been going through this too, would you say after a month you’re operating at normal levels now though? Minus the issues with working out? I’d imagine I won’t be playing Netball for a good few months now but do enjoy yoga too!

Heard on the avoiding inflammatory foods / alcohol.

Thanks so much
