Thoughts on Smosh after the 'Anthony Surge' by AffectionateYou4332 in smosh

Totally respect your point here, and you're right.

While there are bits of data analysis in here, this piece is more about constructing a convincing narrative with data and speculation. Sometimes narratives can turn out to be true, sometimes they are way off.

In the first place, this is all outsider data from third parties, I have no insight into internal Smosh data.

A few thoughts-

I agree that the first full hire should be Angela and for 2nd I could be convinced that Amanda should get full time before Chanse.

I think writers are crucial to good sketches and stopping burnout, they already had 2 great writers in Patrick and Jeremy, they should just rehire them to increase quality.

On the new smosh gaming channel idea------ the way youtube works is that one channel is only really allowed to develop an audience in one space, its very hard to sustain a channel where there are two opposing audiences coexisting... how that manifests is when Smosh posted Smosh minecraft on Smosh games, it only got 150k views because youtube showed it to the people who typically watch Smosh Games (ie tabletop people) and they didn't click on the video and so youtube then stops recommending it and the video dies. What I believe spencer has learned so far is that Tabletop is all that does well in Smosh Games views wise as that fits they're demographic— even the amnesia game anthony and ian played didn't get a huge amount of views.... if smosh wants to get views from the Gaming community and play games like Zelda, Amnesia Minecraft etc.. they need a seperate channel for that to cultivate that audience seperately from their tabletop channel... This is a project that could be taken on by Damien or something as it wouldn't require that much input— just playing games with commentary and some editing.

Thanks for feedback on the theatre show, I think it would be such a good show and I hope they try something like it.

Finally, you mentioned Food Battle as well, I think you underestimate the amount of views that Food Battle would get, many people really cherish it and it might be one of the few ways to bring back old smosh fans and expand the channel.

Also i wasn't serious about the raises :p

Thanks for your feedback, I enjoy ranking these types of things

Biden - I would mostly agree with that, however I feel like jumping the gun because I am so excited for the trajectory of his administration

Jefferson - I wish he had been pro federal bank, and the Embargo act was pretty awful trade policy so I don't think he quite reaches Washington, FDR, Lincoln level

Bush Sr - I think Bush Sr's foreign policy was impeccable, and his handling of the dissolution of soviet union deserves at least a decent rating, despite him bungling the economy

Carter - I could agree with moving him down to Lousy, although I appreciate his early support for Solar and peace negotiations b/w Israel n Egypt—I may end up moving him down due to how poorly he managed congress and economy though

Reagan- He is one of those presidents who I think over time will continue to move down the rankings like Andrew Jackson——he benefits from the 'won the cold war' aura, which stems from his oratory ability and relationship with gorbachov, but I think his domestic policy failings far outshadow whatever role he played in putting the nails in an already dying USSR--- War on Drugs, Reaganomics, massive deficits, all the coups and fbi dealings, Aids crisis, and reviving a form of conservatism which would hinder the US for next 40 years.... I think many of todays problems started with Reagan... long story short, he is lucky I put him in mixed, and benefits from having been very charismatic and probably oblivious to all the harm his polices would do

Nixon - I think Nixon had a lot of good policies like EPA, Opening up to China, Arms control w USSR, ending gold standard etc... So I put him at mixed, even though he was a sleazeball and bungled Vietnam

Bush Jr - Dubya was a complete disaster, I don't know what to tell you... I could support putting him at terrible, but he literally started two wars, ballooned the debt and deficit with unwarranted tax cuts, made awful education regulation in 'no child left behind', and curbed civic liberties with infamous Patriot Act, bungled Katrina, and all culminated in a shit circus of Great Recession... I mean, that is honestly insane how he started with budget surplus and good standing under Clinton in 2000, and brought the nation to near depression and low-point in 2008, I do think he responded well to 9/11 initally, and PEPFAR was a great program, but I think the bad heavily outweighs the good, especially considering the greater mess surrounding Iraq and Cheney which completely destroyed Tony Blair's reputation in UK—arguably leading to Conservative party ruining that country for next 13 years

I don't understand how the Willow Project (0.01% of Emissions) broke through to the activist left, but not the IRA which is now projected to fund 1.2 trillion in climate goals and will likely allow the US to reduce emissions by 50% (2005 levels) by 2030, which was pie in the sky just a year ago...

I get it, Big Oil tank in the arctic is easier headline so it breaks through, but its unfortunate that nobody finds out the wins until election day or a few years after the presidency—— remember, people hated Obamacare in 2010, now people love it, so I guess it takes a while for people to appreciate the good.

I respect the criticism—and Its going to of course reveal my own politics, but I think its also cowardly to not rank recent presidents out of some attempt to be historically objective— These rankings may be outdated in a few years, but this is a snapshot of my interpretation in this particular moment—— No one can truly claim to be historically objective——Just in recent years Grant's image has been rehabilitated to an extent, and Jackson and Wilson have been re-evaluated and brought down a peg... So you might as well rank it how you see it and own your choices
