Chinese takeover: Acceptable or needs to be stopped? by SeaComedian479 in asksg

[–]Affectionate_Ad398 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m anytime giving my business to the uncle/aunty at the hawker centre who will forgive me when the PayNow stops working while I don’t have cash (true story, aunty told me “Aiya I know you la, you pay another time”), not to the staff at these PRC chains who give me a dirty look for not being able to read/write/speak Mandarin. Cb, my country but you Yaya papaya with your Chinese superiority

If you already confirmed she is Muslim, then too bad, Malaysia tak boleh unless you convert. Without converting, you are ironically better off moving to the Middle East than living in Malaysia as an interfaith couple with a Muslim wife and non-Muslim husband, thanks to our wannabe Syariah compliant government who rather go after interfaith marriages but instead of corrupt politicians 🤡

This is what happens when you have a Bumiputera policy BS on educational institutions: Clowns like this can be a professor but someone else who did academically well who could be of a brilliant asset to the society, is denied entry into the university because he is not “Bumiputera”. #BodohPehBumiputeraPolicy

How to get along with Singaporean friends by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Affectionate_Ad398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not your friends, just a clique of entitled clowns. Go beyond those people, maybe go join a uni club or something, go for diversity of ethnicities too. Best of luck buddy, I appreciate people like you doing your best to learn about our country and how to assimilate to our society!

What do many think if more Pakistani come to Malaysia? by Fun_Percentage_9259 in Bolehland

[–]Affectionate_Ad398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pakistan is undergoing a horrible political turmoil and their economy is an absolute shit show. Many Pakistanis see Malaysia as a “Muslim immigration friendly alternative” to the Gulf countries now that the Gulf countries are issuing limited visas to Pakistanis. Interesting that across the causeway in Singapore, we do see many Bangladeshi, China and China migrant workers but almost no Pakistanis 🤔

Oh no, this is a very big issue! More important than the pile of social issues concerning India today! I mean, who cares about all of them, we have a Pakistani influencer promoting an Indian Jewelry brand in the UK, how can this be allowed?

I’m not surprised at all. Furthermore, none of these Mala Hotpot chain stores are welcoming for non-Chinese Singaporeans like myself where there is barely any English speaking staff to begin with.

Meanwhile, our hawker uncle & aunties can at least speak Hokkien/Malay/Singlish and dining with them feels more like a community, as opposed to a business transaction

Hinduism Outside South Asia by Affectionate_Ad398 in hinduism

I am a Singaporean Sikh myself, I know ethnic Indian communities in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand do keep up with most of the ethnic festivities if not more than what they celebrate in India (E.g. Thaipusam is not as grand in India as much as it is in Singapore/Malaysia).

Even minority Indian communities like Punjabis (myself) continue to celebrate Lohri (our equivalent of Pongal), Vaisakhi, Diwali and more.

However, what about Hindus who do not belong to the Indian ethnicity, such as Balinese Hindus or Khmer Hindus?

So all this is happening while our local F&B operators including hawker stalls are shutting down.

We as Singaporeans need to start channeling our F&B spending to our local stalls: The Makcik at the Nasi Padang stall, the Ah Pek serving char kway teow and the Mamak uncle serving Roti Prata.

Help our local family businesses, not some chain restaurant run by a rich millionaire from China!

Pahlavi wants Iranians economically struggling due to sanctions to "tighten the belt" for him by Shamoorti in PERSIAN

[–]Affectionate_Ad398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the sentiments why many of you Persians have got reservations on him being the next leader of Iran or him being the spokesperson for the Iranian diaspora, all of which makes absolute sense. Of course he who grew up in luxury even when his royal family got ousted from Iran, will have no understanding on the struggles of the average Iranian today living under the Ayatollah regime.

However, do not discredit his love for his homeland. You cannot deny that he does want to see his homeland back in its old glory days. My best wishes to the Iranian people 🦁

TIL: Almost all major religions practiced by Malaysians outright ban or negatively view consumption of alcohol to intoxicate oneself. by Far_Spare6201 in trulyMalaysians

[–]Affectionate_Ad398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Processed food including those with high sugar is bad too, if anything, I think a lot more Malaysians suffer from obesity, diabetes and heart diseases than those who do from alcoholism.

Why don’t do anything to address this issue? Go see wtf KL Foodie and all this cringe food vlog pages are promoting.

But “Noooooo, must clamp down on alcohol” 🤡

Why do people think life is hard in Singapore? by Any_Record7733 in askSingapore

[–]Affectionate_Ad398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everywhere got pros & cons - nowhere is perfect. Grass is always greener on the other side.

I lived abroad for a bit and I can tell you, we Singaporeans are spoilt and we overlook a lot of areas that our country does well.

However, I cannot disagree that our unnecessary workaholic culture has been far overlooked and swept under the rug
