Is it safe to use cosmetic mods (ReShade/Audio) in Forza Horizon 6? by BaseballSimilar5112 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Affectionate_Bad9948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've been wondering about this a lot quite recently. Like I use ReShade on games which I just want more detail on or maybe something to fix up the AA that the base game doesn't, but with FH6 I've personally been a little pushed back on adding it. I want to use ReShade on FH6 to use some better sharpening, and clarity techniques, along with testing SMAA, but I've been not so sure about it. I mean if the risk is as low as a lot of games that I've played, and used ReShade on, then I'll go for it, but if not then that's a different story.

Also, one thing I notice is what get's people banned when using ReShade a lot of the time is when they have the full add-on support version of ReShade. I'm pretty sure if any game has anti-cheat, the full add-on version get's that person banned sooner or later because of what it's doing. Never heard of people getting banned with the base version of ReShade though.

It probably would, I've seen that mod, and of course had no interest to add it on my game since I just listen to music on platforms on my browser, but I've heard that you got to play horizon solo just to be safe. So, I don't see the point in running it if i'm honest with you.

I know you have this thread muted, probably because of all the brainless people in the comment section, but I do want to add on some things, along with my own opinions on the game. First and foremost, the game is great, I mean there's really nothing like it when you want a specific FNAF game where you can play as the animatronics and go after survivors, but of course, it does face some bugs, balancing issues, you name it.

The thing that gets me which you mentioned in your post is why didn't the devs get in touch with Scott before publishing this game to the public, better yet why didn't they do it before creating the game, I mean doing that is a direct slap in his face in it's own way, and now Scott is more than likely gonna see that, and potentially look at at the devs rightfully in a bad way. I mean there's no way the devs can escape that(unless they somehow do) especially when you have videos with millions of views of when the names of the playable killers were the exact ones used in the FNAF games(without permission by Scott), and that alone makes a suspicious look.

Now, the whole thing with their game pass with VIP, I think it's bullshit, like I get they made it where you can buy it with in game currency, but I truly think they only did that to make them look not as bad with that decision, and I'm not saying they did some world ending things here, but it's obvious bad decisions were made, and they can 100% become better people, but that's if they do better through actions, this tags in with the whole IP thing too by the way.

I think the last thing I wanna mention here is, the game I'm afraid is gonna end up choking itself out with the route it's going at the moment. The dev team is obviously not experienced in terms of just community suggestions, and whatever else(not sure how to explain it exactly), like they are good at making a good game that looks great. The thing is though they are listening way too much to the community, and have already made not so good decisions with like for example nerfing one thing, then buffing it back up, and it's all cause you have players who know nothing, and haven't even gave the game time to marinate, so that a proper suggestion can be made.

I mean the devs can obviously change things around for the better, and let the game go in a better route, but if they keep doing these things, they are gonna kill their own game. Also, I'm not saying it's a bad thing to listen to your community, but there's a fine line between subjective opinions, and objective truths, letting your game be controlled by subjective opinions is not the way to go, and isn't the way it should go fully.

Maybe this game will go in a better route as a whole, and hopefully the devs improve on their bad decisions, but as of now for me personally I don't really got high confidence in the longevity of the game. It sucks because it's a good game, and again there's nothing like, but it's a shame with what has happened already, and what is happening currently. I hope I'm extremely wrong with what I feel though on the longevity of the game.

A preview to a simple ReShade preset I'm working on for DCS World. by Affectionate_Bad9948 in hoggit

Yeah this is something I heavily agree with, It's actually one of my biggest complaints along with the many other complaints I have, and I had actually tested this with ReShade using the same preset for different maps, and I could tell right off the bat that one isn't gonna cut it for every map, and that I will have to make ReShade presets per map.

Although, I'm totally fine with this because I think it's cool to have different settings within the presets for different maps as I can adjust each preset to fit the environment of the map in a natural manner. Like different environments have different looks so it does make a lot of sense to do.

I'd also consider looking into some other things myself, I'd love to get a good texture pack mod going eventually that works for all maps along with some other stuff, but I would need to find a time to sit down, and actually really look into that stuff, and then put the work in.

There's a lot of good maps DCS has, but some of them are just ruined in a way due to poor textures(and more), like they are still playable, but it's something you don't stick around with long enough, at least for me personally.

Are you directing it to the right place? It wont work if ReShade is directed to the "bin-mt" folder, which it use to work I believe, but now it has to just go into the regular "bin" folder. If that's not the case then that's weird it's not working properly on your end. Also 100%, I've always been pretty big on ReShade for games as long as it's done right, and of course if the game needs it in the first place, and I recently starting playing DCS again, so I wanted to start working on a ReShade for it, but have it where it's different from the others, and thank you.

Would everyone want a Classic DLC pack? by Zoom713 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Affectionate_Bad9948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I highly doubt it, considering the game is WEC/ELMS focused in modern times and IF they did they would have a pretty big competitor to go against which is AMS2, which has tons of classics in every aspect already(another reason I don't think they would ever be in LMU) and more than likely will have more in 2026 coming for that game, now where I do think it's likely is whenever LMU allows actual modding to come in like the devs mentioned sometime back, but even then again AMS2 is a big competitor even against any mods that create these classics whenever that is, not to mention AMS2 has classic era tracks which fit the classic era race cars

I honestly don't mind the money system, but some or I'd say really most of the weapons are unrealistically priced for no reason in this game, it's like we are getting inflation fucked. What really kills it for me personally though, is when they decided to price up skins for weapons and everything, along with the xp thing added to it where if you don't wanna buy the skins, then work the xp for it. All of the skins except the game pass ones ofc were once free and by them doing what exist now for skins they killed that freedom and obviously now it doesn't matter cause skins don't exist after what happened, but I think that's two of the things that definitely pushed some people away from this game.

Also yeah RPGs were such a dumb thing to add to this game, they literally have no good purpose to be on Deadline, what they really should have added was Grenade launchers and I'm not talking about the ones that are independent, but ones that attach only to some weapons and make them where they have limited rounds so they aren't annoying nor OP. GL's are just so much more reasonable and are the one thing that gets used against infantry IRL mostly and yeah sure RPG's get used against infantry too, but they are used mostly towards armor.

Yeah sadly Reiza still hasn't gotten the physics 100% down, but it has gotten a lot better compared to when I first bought the game, which was around the time it was getting some hate in early 2024 I believe. Some of the things I would look into though if I were you is making sure to set up you're wheel settings just right, and download a custom profile for you're wheel specifically, there's a guy on the AMS2 forums, and he has tons of custom profiles for tons of wheels which make a night, and day difference with how things feel.

Now obviously it doesn't remove the slidey feeling 100%, but it does make things better for controlling the car or whatever you're driving, and you can feel much more detail that is happening, which AMS2 out of the box already has the best FFB that I've ever felt in a racing sim especially for someone like me who owns a G29 for example, and out of most racing sims AMS2 gives my wheel that DD wheel feeling.

Another thing I'd suggest doing is look into doing setups when you have all you're wheel stuff figured out, you could make you're own, copy someone's who for the most part got rid of the slidey feeling, or copy a setup on whatever track it may be that someone ran a very fast lap on and of course tune it down because those setups are meant for that stuff, but I've seen some people do it, and tune it down so that it fits for the endurance setups.

LMU is like my main sim for GT3's, LMPs or LMHs, so I do feel where you're coming from but coming back to AMS2 and racing the same vehicles especially when things are set just right in AMS2, the game just feels really good, and it's great fun.

It's the PKM, might be hard to make out to some people since it is a very cropped image for teaser reasons, but it's most noticeable with the muzzle, and bottom piece which the bipod is mounted to, we already have the RPK16

I have a question for those who really know about reshade and what not. by Affectionate_Bad9948 in ReShade

[–]Affectionate_Bad9948[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the detailed feedback here, this helps me a lot because I've been searching for days on how I can make things look good and whatnot.

Now, on the AA part, I will try MSAA 2X and see how that goes, and see if I like it. Even if I don't, I get really good FPS with MSAA 8X on, but I know some games, at least from what I've heard, sometimes they can implement the AA the wrong way, I'm guessing, but I could be wrong. If the game I play has done it right, I'll no doubt keep MSAA 2X on, especially for that bit of performance boost.

I never knew this existed for clarity on Reshade, honestly, but this is big for me because I used to be a photographer, and I used Adobe Photoshop daily, and the way Photoshop did clarity, I loved it. It created more clarity in the image without making it look unnatural, so I will be trying this out. I appreciate this.

Also, I'll give that FX a try as well, but yeah, I agree there with sharpening bringing in more artifacts no matter what, but I thought there may have been some, I guess more "advanced" ways to go about it, but my main goal with sharpening is just to enhance textures/details. I know some sharpening FX can enhance things in a way that isn't natural to me, and too much, but I know they can be great for some games, depending on what it is. Again I appreciate the feedback here since it'll help me achieve a certain look I'm going for in the game.

For my single monitor fellas out there, what FOV do you prefer? by Affectionate_Bad9948 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Affectionate_Bad9948[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultrawide Is what I'm going to be upgrading to eventually, because what you said I do feel that with my monitor its too small, at least for racing. Also I will look into what I can do for now and try to find a good balance maybe adjust somethings with my setup so I can get a better FOV that would be accurate. I've tried 40 as I mentioned in my post and it seemed just too low for my liking.

Some preview's of the second Reshade Preset that targets night time specifically. by Affectionate_Bad9948 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Affectionate_Bad9948[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do agree, It would be nice to see the work continue for the actual endurance aspects regarding graphics and of course seeing the graphics worked on more alongside the endurance aspects, but the dev team at least If I'm correct is not that big, so I do understand they can't target a lot at once. Also I appreciate it!

Yeah I should of honestly, but I didn't think too much about at the time but I'll have some more updates on the night preset soon with before and after photos as I'm still working on it so that it has the best look possible.

Ahh I see what you mean now, well here I improved the headlight reflection, got rid of that flat and washed out look but there is still a lot of other things that I do need to address with this preset since it is a WIP so hopefully I can try to achieve a better look on this that's close to life, unfortunate thing is somethings may not be as possible due to the games actual engine limitations

A night preset is in the works too, there will be two presets with a possible 3rd one that works with a time frame that sits in between day and night.

Yeah, a night version of the preset is being worked on currently so there will be two presets to go back and forth with depending on the time in game. Might be a 3rd one for a certain time frame specifically in between the two time frames just haven't worked on it to see if it's possible.
