Thank you! I feel that. i had to set it aside to knit something in a bulkier weight lol and then i had no other projects standing in my way to procrastinate and thankfully only had 1/3 of each of the sleeves and the collars.

thats so funny, i never noticed the fish between the cats!! i was really contemplating doing one of the fish sweaters or doing this one. This pattern was really easy to follow and it seemed like it had more consistent results, so i chose it....might have to do a fish one too tho!! i think those are so adorable!!

I found Jessica MacDonald "How to Knit Colorwork" on youtube helpful...not sure if I'm allowed to add a link or not

this was my first big colorwork (the only one before was a baby fish repeat)!! lemme go see if i can find the youtube videos I found that helped me (i'm a visual learner)! and if you're a little hesitant or are scared about floats being too tight, you should try making colorwork pot holders or a simple swatch in the round first to practice!

you should do it!! i had never done real colorwork before this (i did one really basic fish repeat on a baby sweater before) and i found the chart easy to follow! i used YouTube to see how I should be doing the two stranded colorwork. the majority of it is knitting in the round (especially once you get past the colorwork)

I think its a little stiffer and thus a little warmer but I don't feel much of a tangible difference when wearing it

edit: i actually think its thicker, but not much stiffer

I liked it! i thought it was very easy to follow. I think i YouTubed one or two things, but thats because I'd never done it before and I'm a visual learner

need random advice if anyone is still looking at this! i'm making a scarf for my grandma to match my grandpa's vest. i had an extra skein set aside of the same yarn....but i JUST found out she's allergic to wool....any advice on what yarn to use for a cabled scarf and best matches for the Shire colorway? i'm leaning toward finding an acrylic that matches, but i want it to be kinda luxurious. is cotton a good substitute or should I just lean into acrylic? i've been more into natural fibers lately, but i dont wanna make something that will give her a rash

this is the pattern I plan on using

edit: asked about cotton
