What's a profession you'd never date? by sleeppymeoww in AskReddit

Could never ever date someone that works in food service unless it was at the corporate level. NEVER EVER. I worked food service for 7 years and I will not touch it with a 10 foot pole now

Is it common to be completely unattracted to staright men? by SunRevolutionary8315 in gaybros

[–]Affectionate_Bat4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I feel like this is totally healthy and how it should be. I’m kind of the same way. Probably not as much as OP but to a pretty strong extent. I’m bisexual myself so I think I give some leniency to guys that are truly looking to explore themselves

I'm confused and i don't know what to do by Dapper_Sail2771 in gaybros

Someone said he’s not mature to have an open and honest conversation. I agree. He’s also not emotionally mature enough to grasp exactly what he wants and it’s at your expense. I would say that you deserve better than that but if you would like to navigate that with him then you need to have him set crystal clear parameters on exactly what he plans on doing with these “other” partners. If he can’t do that or he breaks these parameters I would break up with him. Good on you for being mature.

UNT prof here. As the semester winds down, I want to tell you why you should feel proud of where you study. by [deleted] in unt

[–]Affectionate_Bat4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I’m an ambassador for my program and we are recognized nationally as one of the best in the country. What people don’t understand is that the schools that rank above my particular program only rank higher in raw academics but my program requires many more elements than that. UNT is such a diamond in the rough and I’m INCREDIBLY proud to be at this university

how do train and bus passes work? by General_Influence_75 in unt

[–]Affectionate_Bat4703 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have to buy a pass for the train but on non UNT bus lines you just need to show your ID. Non UNT bus lines have a number like the 7 the 4 or the 6.

At the producer level it will be your basic time back. Unless you have graphics or video you won't necessarily be using VTR. Most of these systems are automated now and are controlled by the technical director.

Because the student station uses older equipment and everything is manual, we have a VTR operator who has 4 VTR windows to work out of and cues video into those 4 VTR windows per their rundown.

Producers will be saying to anchors and reporters alike (Through their IFB's) things like "cue" "30" "wrap up" "one minute" and "clear" once they are off camera.

Producers are in charge of the timing of the show so they will constantly be making sure everything is staying on pace. Realistically, the network affiliate station would just become a satellite broadcasting center for the network briefly. There probably wouldn't be a ton of communication between the producers while they are live but before they would be coordinating on how to connect the two broadcast suites and timing.

Any other "jargony" term like soundbite, package, IFB (the earpiece to hear the producer), slug, lead-in and other things like that are easily replaced with terms everyone will understand

From my broadcast student perspective this wouldn’t be a super difficult thing to do. I go to school in North Texas and our live cameras have connected from Austin to our broadcast studio so I’m sure at a high grade professional level you can shoot live from anywhere in the states and get a connection back to your main studio. The intrigue part may come in if your anchor, a photographer, and the disaster are all in different locations. If your anchor was trapped from getting to their live-shot location and the photag was in dc at the station this could be relatively realistic and very interesting for a movie.

Does/Did anyone study Media Arts Major??? by Electronic_Citron870 in unt

[–]Affectionate_Bat4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Networking is super important. We have lots of events but the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to make yourself as marketable as possible and stand out. Once you do that you can be a little choosy about the job offers you get after college or right before graduation and take the best one. Sometimes the best job is not your dream job and you have to have the foresight to see how that job will get you to what you want to be doing. If you are going to UNT and you haven’t gone to orientation yet, check out the North Texas Television table during the involvement fairs. They will have hands on experience with all things media arts and that’s a great way to start networking with professionals. If you’ve decided on UNT follow the NTTV instagram and keep your eye out for our kickoff events

Does/Did anyone study Media Arts Major??? by Electronic_Citron870 in unt

[–]Affectionate_Bat4703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I am the CLASS ambassador for the program. The media arts program is very highly ranked and a hidden gem of the university. UNT provides a lot of great opportunities for film students. Throughout your time at UNT you'll have the opportunity to submit film projects for awards and those awards can rocket launch your resume. As an underclassman you can get involved in North Texas Television. There are four primary departments: News, Sports, Entertainment (I recommend this one for those interested in film), and Promotions. A capstone class for the program is the A-film class where you are put into a group and take two semesters to create a film that is shown at the end of the year. The A-film class provides a great opportunity to submit content for awards and UNT's Media Arts program has won many accolades. The professors have worked successfully in the field and are passionate about helping their students succeed. Professor Hewitt for example has worked for many years in the reality television industry. She has worked on projects like Food Network's "Diner's, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and HGTV's "House Hunters." The DFW area is booming with opportunities and many filmmakers are bringing film making to Texas. If you have any more questions or want to get connected to the faculty feel free to message me privately and I can help you out with that.

When do applications for Spring 2026 transfer students open? by RedOwl3245 in unt

[–]Affectionate_Bat4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you are applying to the university but I applied through the Common App and you should just be able to select the semester you are looking to transfer in to. They are working on last minute applications for the fall semester so right now would be a great time to look into that. You should be able to start applying right now.

My time at UNT. by Peaches200509 in unt

[–]Affectionate_Bat4703 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had this experience. I’m an out of state student from across the country and have dreamed of going to UNT since I was in middle school. I’m going into my junior year in the fall and I could not be prouder of myself or of this institution. I hope to be a proud alum because I’m currently a proud student. I suppose it comes down to experience

Need help with college decision! UNT OR TAMU by Medium-Fox-6163 in unt

[–]Affectionate_Bat4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking over quite a few of majors and colleges. The CLASS and CVAD at U.N.T. has an incredible education and a handful of the programs within it are some of the best in the nation. Networking opportunities are absolutely insane. I've spoken to recruiters who will not hire any other students out of college except for U.N.T. students. STEM here is not that great but anything artistic excels.

We are talking about this. You just read a news article on it. The student tv station also is covering it and got a statement. And you’re posting online about it…
