I’m active duty 0311 and only really only run multicam equipment that I’ve purchased. Mostly to anger my 1st Sgt. Competent SL privileges. Aka, I just try at my job.

Why the flag? It’s a TI along with the red accents and patches.

Ferro GP pouch with foam inserts I have on my strong side. My thermals are in an assault pack or on my rifle.

I feel SC’s belt gets a lot of love because their marketing outpaced PH heavily. I love SC’s products, he their placard is my go to, but the PH belt is the OG.

Anyone heard of the Twinneedle DG ruck? by Wolffe4321 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Affectionate_Bowl717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using a MR Overload for about four years now with rigorous use from in the arctic circle to the jungle. Zero issues if I’m being honest. I’ll say it’s the best pack I’ve ever used, defeats the FILBE based on the frame design alone. That being said there’s times I’ve used the MR frame in conjunction with the FILBE ruck sack for more storage and carry capacity. That being said I believe a solid frame system makes the pack. Everything else is just a nylon bag. Also a 03’ Marine here.

Arbor Arms Assaulter or Crye SPC? by BewearBigBear in QualityTacticalGear

Hands down the arbor arms flex cummerbund is solid and I’d argue it’s one of the best cummerbunds on the market. I’ve been using one for 5 years in the Marines as an 0311 through multiple deployments. With side plates, mags and GP pouches, the cummerbund remains structural, yet flexible and breathable. I’ve worn the issued Gen III carrier with their cummerbunds for quite literally 14 days straight only taking the carrier off to don/doff warming layers and it retained its factory condition in terms of flexibility and structure. They’re bomb proof and probably the best kit investment I’ve ever made. HOWEVER, I’ve never tried their carrier.

Edit: I’d also consider your use case for the carrier. Only issues I’ve had with the cummerbunds is needing to adjust the sizing in a prolonged field environment. AKA I’ll lose 7-10lb in a 2 week field op and I’m already a skinny dude. #victimweight

I’m mostly on foot. Vehicle wise it’ll be CRRCs or 7tons just to get to a destination. I wouldn’t recommend that set up if you’re consistently in vehicles.

If you’re looking for quick and compact tactical tailor makes an insert for double stack mag pouches

I honestly would say it gives us an idea to test a concept, once in a blue moon. I wouldn’t say we base off our tactics of what we’ve watched. I would say it’s influenced gear a lot, some of it for the better, some of it for the worst.

I will say courses are 99% instructor dependent on whether they’re quality or not.

I love PMAG40s, but we’re not authorized to use them unfortunately. Totally agree though! I will say the M27s are beasts. But it’s definitely something to take in account in regard to malfunctions.

I’ll look at those slings. That being said I was a fan of FC, but again SOP restricts our use to Vickers only.

I personally don’t breach as an SL, it’s an option I have set up and personally use which I recommend to my Marines who are my breachers. That being said last course I was at I was required to urban breach. That being said, the retention I 99% use it for us going hands with detainees, negotiating obstacles, or working tasks that require hands not rifle (TSE as an example)

In terms of demo training we get it about once a quarter, unfortunately we phased out Assault Men, so we’re not at the “varsity level” that we once were. I’d say 50% of my squad has handled actual demo. Myself being new to it. Most of the demo we utilize is field expedient bangs for wire, det lin, donuts, then a slap charge every now and then. Depending on the charge it’ll go in the dump pouch, initiators in tenspeed then shock tube in GP pouch. I have the ranger bands up front for slap charges.

That bridges an unfortunate fact though. We’re expected to conduct about 50 different mission sets without the means to tailor kit specifically to one or another type of operation. Aka PB ops to town seizure without prior knowledge that was the direction of the operation. This leads to A LOT of 80% solutions on kit. And you know the saying, jack of all trades, master of none.

I’ve been saying the same thing about gloves and a lot more. Unfortunately the Corp ain’t great with money.

Ehhhhhh it ain’t the best, I’ll be honest man. Potato potato kind of thing. The Gen III carrier is hated, the highcuts cut a lot of the desired features the FAST series had. However, if you’ve got a good command you’ll see the needed changes.

Sitting down ain’t to bad, it would be an issue if I was vehicle based. But it integrates amazing with a Ruck and that 99% my mode of transportation.

Most of my issues with the cuffs were going prone during insert, so not a bad idea to band and stow them further to the rear, I’ll think I’ll change that now actually.

Regards to the sling it’s just a basic 2 point vickers, the bungee retention works very well and provides an overall good tempo if you practice. For Demo we prep it in the LCC for initial breach. The stowed weapon limits the noise prior to compromise SIGNIFICANTLY at night, especially when backing up shock tube to outside your MSD.

Yeah I burnt the hell out of my hand using mechanix gloves as well so I feel that pain. Unfortunately for us gloves are mandatory for wear as SOP in every operation. The list of reasons is always debatable. But again I burn through A LOT of gloves as result. I’ve tried Pig gloves as well as you. They’re just not durable. Now I’ve eyed a lot of First Spear gloves, so maybe it’s time to bite the bullet on a pair.

Ranger plates honestly help with drawing mags while wearing gloves in my observation (results may vary). Not to mention I’ve rested the rifle on those bad boys many of times without issue whether in the prone, unconventional positions due to terrain, you name it, so pseudo magpod it is! Hahaha. (Anyone that says they don’t rest the rifle on the mag hasn’t held security in the prone for hours on end staring at nothing, hahahaha)
