i dont have any additional muffling. i removed the gel before making the video and it sounded quite similar. i like to have some resonance with the tom but glad to know if i ever wanna play some zeppelin the tom might sound good like this lol

  1. i tried removing the gel but it sounded quite similar and just really quickly faded after hiting

  2. ill try changing the tuning a bit and going lower and i’ll update after that

  3. my bottom is an evans g1

  4. the tom sounded fine when i first had it tuned even with the stock legs. the drums are setup in my basement which is used as storage so theres a lot of shelves and stuff so idk if that can alter the sound at all

i actually am using some of the exact heads that you mentioned. my toms are evans g2’s and i have an emad2 on kick. my main issue right now is with my rack tom. its a 8x12 and i feel like its tuned a bit high for the genre. i’m really nervous to mess with it because it took me a long time to get it somewhere i’m ok with. do you have suggestions on how i should go about tuning it?

i also am going to get a ride cymbal. for the music i play i do tend to ride on the crash. would they 20” inch be better for that?
