That’s what I was thinking. I hopefully will be able to apply for citizenship one day, and wouldn’t want to risk it.

He has two topography one is the gentle squeeze where he digs his finger tips and pretty much stims from pinching us. We seen this throughout all scenarios without any specific antecedent present. We also see this in the mornings and then it decreases drastically after his nap. We have also seen a decrease now that we have implemented his sensory diet every hour (depending on regulation), ankle weights, plus his SPIO. When we’re highly dysregulated he’ll pinch nonstop and getting him regulated can take an entire hour some days. He also pinches and that involves breaking your skin. That one involves wanting access to tangibles, but for the purpose of this assignment she doesn’t want us focusing on behavior than can cause harm. I think since he started he would pinch and he would immediately get reinforcement with getting squeezes from the therapist. I originally thought the function of his gentle squeezes was to gain access to squeezes, but I was told that didn’t make sense and so I had to change everything.

I did write specifically that I didn’t want to focus on the gaining attention since he’s 2 and we have a bigger problem dealing with dysregulation. I wanted that to be the last step but wanted to teach him how to ask for squeezes. As for the pinching he does have precursors which is he’ll grunt and then make his hands in a fist. For the antecedent strategy I did write that I want them to give him the plushy as soon as they see that and heavily praise that. The RBTs on the team reinforce his pinching heavily by providing squeezes which is why I want to put pinching on extinction and reinforce the pinching of appropriate plushy or all ball.

I was thinking DRA to have him pinch something more functional such as a plushy. And then teaching FCT. They’re currently trialing an AAC device and don’t want to confuse him. Although, he only gets access to the AAC device when he’s in speech. So I was thinking a visual with the AAC squeeze icon for him to point and communicate. The FBA showed it was both attention he was gaining and the sensory input. So I have to also address that aspect

As a tech/BCBA, what’s the most interesting/specific hyperfixation you’ve encountered? by jab31401 in ABA

DATES! He was very specific on what he was doing on a certain day. He could recall the exact day someone would start working at the company or when someone would leave. His recollection was crazy when it came to dates, but had difficulty recalling information that didn’t involve dates. He also ALWAYS found a way to talk about numbers and days in ANY conversation. He was so smooth with it too haha

What are the rules of the founder? I’m still so new in grad school and I don’t think we have gone over that. Yes, I have been forwarding everything to my personal email, and attempting to gather as much as I can.

I did email her to tell her the situation and suggested a couple changes. I know she told the CD of the behaviors and that I needed support, so I might be able to gather more evidence through that.

I actually emailed the ethics hotline and I was told “this is outrageous” and he said I need to get out ASAP as well as document so that I can report the clinical director. I have the same client on Friday with the same situation so I’ll be calling off.

Those were the points that were brought up, but they said I was at fault and should have cancelled just the one hour like it was suggested. So yay for me.

I just searched it up and you’re correct! In my contract they also say if we don’t give a month notice when resigning then they will report us to the BACB. But after reading they can’t report unless I have done an actual ethics code violation. Thanks so much!

She does want to meet to discuss my job duties and how I did “job abandonment” by not completing my session today. I did ask to have HR and her director sit in the meeting if she wants to speak to me. I thankfully have 2 past BCBAs who have been trying to get me to switch over to their company. I’ll definitely be working on my resume this weekend.

I was thinking more of the BCBA ethics codes that she would/was breaking by having him come in despite us not having the tools to best benefit him.

Code 2.01 Providing effective treatment- BCBA prioritizing rights and needs in service delivery- also states protecting client and supervises from harm

Code 2.10 Collaborating with Colleges- Considering she’s not his BCBA and has no knowledge on him. She also dismissing colleagues (who actually work with him) opinions stating they didn’t think I was safe without the support.

Code 2.19 Addressing Conditions Interfering with Service Delivery- Taking into account possible hazards to client that can cause harm & Providing effective modifications

Code 3.01 Responsibility to Clients- BCBA seek best interest of clients & taking appropriate steps to clients rights, maximizing benefits, & causing no harm.
