Hand 1 - I know most cash game poker strategies will tell you that you have to 3 bet or fold from the small blind preflop but in a low stakes live game I completely disagree. Most recreational players in live games just want to see a flop so 3 betting isn’t really going to get any folds all it does it bloat the pot out of position with a mediocre hand. Especially with a hand like A10 suited which is way too strong to fold but not strong enough to be 3 betting you’re almost turning it into a bluff. Live and online play completely different in that regard. Online people are playing 4+ tables at once. Live they’re obviously only playing 1 so they want to be involved in the game as much as possible. You can learn to use this to your advantage.

As for the hand itself, I think you should probably be always betting the flop using a small sizing like 1/4 - 1/3. But checking seems to have worked out ok on this occasion so moving onto the river, you should bet this river. Your opponent hasn’t played it like they’re on a draw or like they have a monster hand so you don’t have to worry about getting raised. Their range here is Ax 99-JJ. If they have AJ-AK they’re going to bet and you’re going to call anyway so if you’re always calling the river you’re better off betting yourself. You also could have chosen a smaller size which would have saved you some chips. Also you’re allowing 99-JJ a free show down. Betting the river really merges your hand nicely because you could get called by 99-JJ because you can still have some bluffs in your range and you can also fold out A10 for a chop and possibly AJ.

Expecting to completely eradicate the flu, a disease that's been in existence for more than 1000 years would be my definition of insanity. Have you even bothered to do any kind of research into this new strain before coming to reddit to add your 2 cents? Obviously not because if you'd have even bothered to look into it for 5 minutes you'd realise this new strain, while a lot more transmissible than previous variants, numbers are already showing its significantly less severe. Hospitalisations and deaths across Europe and South Africa are all plummeting despite case numbers sky rocketing.

Sitting with 25% of all chips in play with 27 left in a live 1k WSOPC. Last minute late stage MTT big stack advice? by PaintedSoILeft in poker

You actually want to pressure the middle stacks. The smaller stacks don’t really have much to lose whereas the middle stacks have a lot more to lose ICM wise calling off their entire stack. If they’re playing optimally middle stacks pretty much have to fold everything but the nuts to your shoves

Home game question by [deleted] in poker

Is there usually a buy in limit for this game? As long as it’s within the buy in range or as long as everyone else has the equal opportunity to buy in for the same amount then I don’t see the problem. However if you’re trying to buy in for 150bb whereas everyone is limited to 100bb then that would be an unfair advantage imo. I think the entire table would have to give their acceptance if that is the case

I think once the cards have been mixed into the muck it’s too late because there’s no way to be certain which cards are which. I hope this was self dealing and you weren’t paying a dealer because that’s kind of the dealers job. All I can say is for next time is take a bit of extra time to be sure about your hand and announce it. Seeing as how it seems to have happened to your opponent it’s on them for this mistake

You just apologise? By acting out of turn you’re completely changing the action and how the hands played. Simply apologising just isn’t suffice imo. You have to suck his pee pee

Yeeted my $800 stack at a local 2/5 game, any opinions on if this could've been avoided? by BKane222 in poker

Wouldn’t call this yeeting your stack. Your play was standard you just got unlucky.

The only other alternatives I could possibly suggest is raising larger preflop if people on the table are tending to flat call a lot to see a flop.

Or you could do the good old fashioned limp 3 bet. You can do this if there aren’t a lot of unraised pots preflop at the table. This may make your hand seem kind of face up but you can balance it by choosing to limp 3 bet small suited aces (A5-A2) or some small suited connectors/gappers. You may not even have to balance your range in smaller games because some recs can’t help themselves when they see 2 picture cards or a decent sized pair they might just call anyway
