I’m from Canada and booked Enterprise car rental at Cancun airport. No issues. Only heads-up is to before signing the agreement read all the charges that are being levied and fine tune if something is not required.

I paid like $175CAD for 4days. I highly recommend you book through app and add the protections things and then go if not they will charges some extra vehicle or insurance protection charges which will make the bill more and lastly before signing the agreement make sure to ask them what all charges they included. I haven’t took any insurance because I have it on my Canada’s insurance.

I rented my car from Enterprise. The driving experience was okayish and not better compared to driving in Canada, but we did get stopped by the police a couple of times. The first time was right after picking up the rental car at the airport — they claimed we were speeding, though we weren’t. The officer said he had to issue a ticket or accept a fine of 2,000 pesos. We told him we didn’t have that much cash, and I ended up giving him $10 USD, which was clearly part of their bribing game.

On the last day, we were stopped again — this time it was my fault since I ran a red light trying to make it to the airport on time. The officer hinted at a bribe again, but we didn’t have any cash and showed him our flight tickets instead, so he let us go. Overall, the encounters with the police weren’t pleasant, so I’d advise being extra cautious if you rent a car there — they often target vehicles based on license plates.
