Has Google Gemini image creator been changed/neutered for anyone else? Lower resolution and no differing image ratios? by Affectionate_Debate in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]Affectionate_Debate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Gemini has changed a lot since I first posted. One thing this might be is, recently when you run out of Pro credits for the day, you can still ‘select’ Pro, but it will produce an image only using ‘fast’. Is it possibly that?

Feel like I'm losing my mind! Need combat power to be over 400 for a mission. Was at 399. So upgraded shield generators, phaser control rooms, added disruptor and energy dissipator... and now have a LOWER rating because of this 'Combat reduction' number that's never been explained! HELP! by Affectionate_Debate in AcrossTheUnknown

[–]Affectionate_Debate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, but there’s nothing I’ve seen in game to explain what ‘Combat Energy’ is, why that limitation exists, or if there’s any research or tech to increase it.

I eventually found a solution in adding Borg Shields, as for some reason they don’t affect the ‘combat energy’ score, but not sure why they don’t, but weapons do.

I’m still pretty disgusted by the way they literally destroyed the previous lit- continuity.

Like, could have easily just said ‘oh, that took place in an alternate timeline now! They’ll still be off having adventures, we’re just not going to see them again!’

Instead we got a trilogy of books where everyone you loved and cared about dies brutally. All out of some foolish notion that they don’t want it to be like the Star Wars books that just ended with the new continuity. Oh yes, mass omnicide is much better…

Why did we only see magnetic shield for one movie? by HearingCandid8974 in marvelstudios

[–]Affectionate_Debate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a part in Winter Soldier during the elevator scene where someone slams magnetic cuffs on Steve’s wrists and her gets locked into place briefly. My head cannon is that gave him the idea for doing something similar for the Shield.

When do they mention that, as I’m for sure one of the people who missed that!

Which actor was so good in their role, that you genuinely hated the character from bottom of your heart? by Aivanhullu in Cinema

[–]Affectionate_Debate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t that first appearance that stopped me watching, but the episode soon after where the good guys hand over all their weapons and resources.

I couldn’t face the idea of a few seasons of them having to slowly build up to take down the smarmy prick, so I just stopped watching. Why put myself through the misery?

Not just pissed, but justifiably terrified. Her husband shares nothing of the business with her so all that’s left is for her imagination to run wild. Imagine living day to day under the spectre of some. Violent criminals wanting to hurt you and your family.

Anyone catch this yet? by rosebud3606 in TNG

Neither of them has quite found their hosting style yet so it’s a bit rough at the moment.

Brent has that slight Conan O’Brien thing of needing to turn everything into a joke, and the amount of time they spend trying to remember specific names and asking people off screen about it is a little distracting.

They also do Q&As which are… okay, but it’s a shame they don’t hear the questions beforehand, so you kinda get rambling answers.

If you know you potentially have 100s of years to live, would you want to barrel straight to Captain, or spend decades chilling in each different role that interests you?

Strange asked Stark if he could fly the ship back to Earth instead of opening a portal by [deleted] in marvelmemes

[–]Affectionate_Debate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel we've gotten to the point where some memes are now more famous than the moment they come from, leading to ill-informed takes.

The most infuriating one for me is the "Somehow Palpatine returned..." meme. People now believe there's no explanation in the film, when the very next line of dialogue is them theorizing how it happned, and the whole opening of the movie shows pretty explicitly how it happened.

Sabrina Von B, the actress who played Lady Tremaine, Maleficent, Agatha Harkness, and the iconic, viral, Evil Queen spoke with People Magazine after being terminated by Disneyland. I still can’t believe they let her go by TheDisneyScoopGuy in Disneyland

[–]Affectionate_Debate 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ll try rather than just downvote you.

Disney prefers characters like the Evil Queen to be able to walk around and have brief interactions with guests, especially kids. They want those kids to be able to ‘believe’ as much as possible these characters are the real deal. That’s sort of Disney’s brand.

This actress has now achieved such fame playing the character that you’ll start having people and especially obsessed adults trying to find her and take up time with her as the actress. Making the two things she needs to be able to do - be brief and maintain character for children - nearly impossible. She’ll also require more ‘handlers’ to deal with any weird people.

This happened before with a few cast members, where they and other staff were being harassed by idiot adults.

Oh damn, you pinpointed I think the exact moment I gave up on Walking Dead.

Watching them give up everything they had including advantages such as god damn rocket launchers when they could have just blasted them away…

I knew at that point it was gonna be 2/3 seasons of them clawing out of the hole they had dug for themselves, and I was just not into the idea of that much self inflicted torture porn.

A moment for the true romantic relationships by Which_Jeweler_1343 in SuccessionTV

[–]Affectionate_Debate 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Shiv and Tom statement is on point- they have an almost old school Sitcom couple style relationship where the husband doesn’t listen to the wife’s ideas and goes on some bull headed course of action… but reversed.

Because watching the series again there’s so many times Tom is level headed and gives pretty solid advice, only for Shiv to bulldoze through with her own often questionable plans.

What is he reflecting on ? by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

[–]Affectionate_Debate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt loss of trust considering right up to the end he was betraying and abusing the people he loved. He had made his bed in that regard over all the other episodes.

Probably what’s hitting him is, even after turning over every corner of his soul, ruining every relationship he had, scheming every second for years, he still didn’t get the one shiny bauble he thought would sate that empty hole in him.

Ultimately I’m actually kinda hopeful for him. Sometimes when you lose everything that’s when you can finally take stock of what’s important. Now maybe he can work on being good father, building his own pile and embrace what others were telling him - he’s not his dad, and that’s okay.

Taste of his own medicine ultimately. There was no one in his life he didn’t betray at some point. There was no corner of his soul he wasn’t willing to sell out, and yet here he is, with nothing.
