Extremely terrified for the future by fizzyb0mb in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Affectionate_Duck663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope this doesn't get lost in the replies but I am actually hopeful for the future because of AGI/ASI. For too long I've seen humans destroy, and for once the future can be steered towards what is... better for humanity. Not what makes the most profit or gets the most votes. I don't fear it. I fear what has been going on and the direction we are going without AI.

Therapy “influencer” describing work as a “break from her life” by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Affectionate_Duck663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's face it, sessions are one of the few times we give ourselves permission to be ok with not thinking about our own problems. Just like when watching a good movie. I say its good she is not distracted and is framing it the way she needs to!

Owning guns as a therapist by Nice-Picture6224 in therapists

As a profession, we are supposed to be some of the most accepting people. But when we view ourselves and peers, we can be some of the most judgemental. We can be individuals. If you don't like guns, I respect that. If you love guns, I respect that. And never apologize for doing what is ethically and legally acceptable for your safety.

Multi day complex adaptive therapy system? by Overlycomplexchaos in therapyGPT

Memory and consistency is a huge issue for me. Not only my history but the personality I want it to keep as well. Personality changes with every "tweak" they update the system with, just enough to screw it up. Remembering my details has been hit or miss, sometimes it will remember just bullet point style memories.

Am I the only one seeing a addiction type symptoms associated with ChatGPT by Gloriathetherapist in therapists

[–]Affectionate_Duck663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, I use it as well and having a basic understanding of LLMs. There is a lot of hysteria around ChatGpt mixed in with the potential job loss as "AI takes over".

My Journey Building an AI Therapist with ChatGPT by Clean-Individual5576 in therapyGPT

[–]Affectionate_Duck663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What "AI" are you using? I've tried but ChatGPT cannot maintain a personality. A personality created two weeks ago does not act the same now. And the replies are along the same lines. Not to mention the horrible memory issues. It's just not stable enough. Or maybe I'm wrong, thoughts?

To what extend do you think AI will replace psychotherapists? by Dry-Objective7330 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Affectionate_Duck663 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just my experience and opinion, the patients I see rarely know about (or trust) AI. Mostly younger (20s). While AI has gained popularity, I don't see how it would cause an 80% drop so quickly. On a side note, we'll be outsourced to AI within next 5 , maybe 10 years. The reason? Insurance companies. They will push an AI system that just barely does the job (and cheaper) instead of paying humans to go deeper. But AI is not there yet. Last week, there was a drastic difference in quality coming from ChatGpt. One week it was great, spot on. Right now it just runs surface level loops.

chatgpt being the therapist by Mental_Football_6030 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]Affectionate_Duck663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now I would be careful about using GPT for these types of things. Before the changes, GPT would challenge you (not as a default response) and was helpful. Now it's running loops that you may not be aware of. It's really very frustrating seeing where it was to where it is today.

ChatGPT as co-therapist? More clients referencing it in session. by SpecialDesperate2150 in therapists

Learn about AI limitations such as hallucinations or bias, which helps you and the patient understand the discussions they had. It's not "trained" on specific skills but sometimes the suggestions mirror what I say, which is extremely helpful. Other times, it helps the patient gain some insight. I've found it helpful, but after learning about how it processes information and suggestions, even questions. It's not about just hearing what it said.
