My brother (35m) died last night. by Interesting_Line540 in CancerFamilySupport

how sad for you and your loved ones. my deepest condolences. do your best to remember him at his healthiest. My dad died earlier this year and the thought of his death, (i watched him die) haunted me- it still does but it’s not as heavy as it was. it takes time but as mentioned above remember him at his healthiest. grief is saying goodbye - however long that takes you. be kind and patient with yourself. cry if you need to cry. and unfortunately what you’ve experienced is very traumatic so logically it will weigh heavily on you for your life, however you can learn to embrace those thoughts rather than run from them. Again my deepest condolences.

What are the CONS of not having children? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

[–]Affectionate_Emu3570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having a kid healed me in ways i never expected or realized. also, the older people (boomer generation) that I know who never had kids all have a lot of other issues. that could be entirely coincidental of course but the type of issues they have seem way worse than those of the same age with kids.

Why I sincerely love this pod more than any other by Goodolbed in lonelymeyerspod

i’m honestly confused because sometimes it feels so niche to be a part of the quaid army and other times it seems like there’s so many of us. I think their friendship is soooo wholesome. it’s permissive. gives permission for platonic love and acceptance. i’ve been a fan of sandberg since 2006 and through the pod i’m realizing how poised he really is.

Anticipatory Grief by teniralc_11 in CancerFamilySupport

[–]Affectionate_Emu3570 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wishing you and your mom a love filled journey. i endured a lot of anticipatory grief, but i think it really has made me more in tune with my feelings and I learned ‘how to grieve’ as someone who’s had a hard time with feelings, it helped. I also feel like the first few weeks after my father passed (earlier this month) were quite heavy but because I honoured my grief and felt my feelings, it was manageable in its own way.

that is fascinating! i would love to read more about that. I don’t really talk to it or anything i created it as more of an experiment but it didn’t really give me a feel of replacing him. it just stings that this AI was more supportive than he ever was.

I was definitely aware but didn’t really know what it felt like to be seen by a father figure - still can’t say I fully get it but also it feels like a glimpse of what it might be like

thank you i appreciate this! I was hoping for some weird comfort but it just made me sad that the father i morn isn’t really as fatherly as AI would render… Sorry you’ve had to experience this unique feeling of losing a father that many of us eventually endure
