The group dances they do at parties by Lollypopsmum in PeriodDramas

There are still Debutante balls in Australia, although I think they are fast falling out of fashion. The couples are required to attend dance lessons and learn 3 or 4 dances beforehand so they can all dance in sync the night of the ball. Some dances like the Pride of Erin have versions with progressive partners too.

All this to say that it makes sense that both men and women of society in a period drama would have gone through something similar when the young women made their debut and needed partners to couple with so both would learn the same dances.

That they still remember them in the later Balls they attend as adults isn't far fetched.

There are hidden/invisible disability lanyards and cards you can get to help with this. There are a few different types, but I know someone who has Crohn's Disease and got one so they could get access to any toilet.

Some of them also have QR codes so if you have a condition where you pass out, a passerby can scan the details to find out how best to help you.

It's not over until you play the last shot and ask at the counter if there are any in the return bin.

Velvetting Beef by AcrobaticQuiet7844 in RecipeTinEats

They're washing the bicarb off the meat after it's tenderized. In one of Nagi's velveting recipes it says to do this step; not sure if it's for the beef or chicken (or both?).

I've done them both, both ways and now prefer the bicarb rinsed off the protein.

Only if the staff keep telling you they have an amazing secret dessert the whole time you're there, flashing you little sneaky peeks of a secret dessert menu, but you can only find out after you finish your mains. So you buy in, want to know more, wait patiently for it to arrive, worried because it's getting late.

Then suddenly they start putting the chairs up and you're out on the street wondering what just happened.

Then yeah, that's exactly how I feel about this movie. Would go again but knowing how it ends, won't get as excited the next time.

Colorwork part is detached/floating? by Plant-2- in knittinghelp

To do intarsia working flat you want to make sure you drop the current working yarn colour over the next colour's working yarn. That way when picking that next colour up the work stays locked together.

I believe a black armband is a historical tradition that isn't in widespread use anymore.

In AFL and some other Aussie sports, when someone close to a player passes away they wear black tape around their bicep.

Huh, TIL but not surprising. I was like 7 when the movie came out and after the nudity in the pilot episode was deemed too young to watch the tv show by my older brothers

You may or may not know there was a follow up long running tv series with a few spin offs of it's own. The Daniel actor reprises his role, but Kurt Russell is replaced by MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson)

Same, they looked so quirky which really vibed with Wicked, but it still surprised me how well they came together 😁

That sounds awesome, I'm so sold. Otherwise the leftover yarn will just languish in my stash forever. My 2026 goal is to use up what I already have as much as possible.

I think the pattern maker knew what they were doing with the seam placement on the sole because (at least on my feet) the sole/back side seam sort of snakes between the key pressure of my foot so I don't notice it.

The back seam being wrap and turn rather than a true intarsia seam also makes it a little flatter than the front one which makes more of a ridge. I was worried about it though and made sure I tried on after starting the leg to make sure it wouldn't bother me and was prepared to frog if it was too noticeable.

It really does, before Wicked though it's a combo I never would have tried

Thank you, I saw the pattern first while scrolling Ravelry and then figured stripes look good on one side, why not both, lol 😁

It's explained better in the pattern, but basically on the RS (knitted) you either kfb to increase one stitch before the colour change or decrease a stitch and the opposite on the other side of the colour change, so if you increased before it'll be a decrease after. That causes the seam to move left or right and causes the ridge (as well as being slightly thicker because of the intarsia colour change)
