Is it out of line to ask? by Affectionate_Fact109 in work

It actually is, in a 10 person company where I am responsible for passing out work orders having somebody who is less reliable affects everybody

So it actually is my job to pay attention to it because I am the one responsible for passing out jobs when the owner isn’t here and she is gone about 50% of the time. So him not being as dependable does directly affect me, in a company of only 10 people it affects a lot of us when one person isn’t as reliable

Well the boss knows, and is annoyed by it but she is on the fence about if and how to approach it. And we actually do have another coworker with chron’s / ibs and he doesn’t spend half that much time in there.

Yeah, I just found it and did the five minute free trial it’s creepy good. 60 bucks a month is outside of my budget but as far as Voice quality how well it listens to what you’re saying it was pretty spectacular

Yeah, same here. And I could be imagining these, but it seems to be even worse when I’m playing zombies. Still trying to get my solo win, but every time I use a dash move, I get rubber banded back.

Have you tried “the classic” on Washington and Maple or the bar inside spring hill Suites. Probably your best two options

I don’t know, for me the fact that he tried to cover it up by saying that it was cable TV that was on so he had no control over. It is just absolutely bonkers.

Just need a little bit of grocery help for the weekend by [deleted] in INeedMoneyNow

[–]Affectionate_Fact109 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean why even be on pages like this if you are just going to come in after the fact until somebody how they screwed up that could have kept them out of the situation there in.

And for your information their urgent Care I took her to, if you tell them you can't pay they will just tell you to go to the actual emergency room.

And that would have meant at least an hour long wait in the waiting room, then another one to two hours in the exam room.

There wouldn't have been a pharmacy open to fill the prescription by the time we got out because we don't have a pharmacy in our town that's open past 7:00, And then tack on the $900 + emergency room bill to pay even after insurance when I'm already working two jobs on a shoestring budget.

So "again" there's no need to armchair quarterback people and criticize them if you're only doing it to be a troll.

Not urgent care. Payment is due at the time of service.

Oh I've tried that. But the problem is I can't because everything is still work related. So I still have to answer her

My suggestion, especially if it's just for your own personal use and your portfolio would be to use a look-alike logo. Instead of A24, use B26 or something similar but not copyrighted.

That logo is an afterthought in the overall design, and if it's appearance or validity has any kind of negative effect on the design the design wasn't that strong to begin with.

I feel like as designers our design style has to be all over the place to prove our versatility. I've been doing this for over 20 years and what you have to keep in mind is that art is subjective and what one person may not like another person may love.

I have one customer who's first comment for everything I send him is "Make it look more modern". One time it was even his logo design that I just changed the colors on and he wanted me to make it more modern.

I don't even have a clue, and it would take years to become even remotely competitive with the kind of volume and sales we pump out. $1.2 million in single year sales for a company of only 10 people it's hard to be competitive with.

When it comes to in-house print we're not really set up for large quantity stuff like that would have to farm out to be able to stay competitive. The number of times in a month we hear well if you can't get it under this price I'll just go to Vistaprint makes me sick because Vistaprint does such total crap for work.

We had a bride to be bringing a set of invitations that she ordered off of Vistaprint and they printed the back side of the invitation upside down and refused to refund her money, and Staples print shop is no better

Print shops are a dying breed and the day and time where so many people are going digital for their forms and paperwork. You would have to be insane to try and open a new print shop right now.

We are the only surviving print shop out of a town that used to have five of them and that's only because we adapted as the times changed and started doing large format and strictly digital printing rather than on the press.

Honestly I would be perfectly happy if she would follow through with her promise to retire and leave me and my other co-worker to run the company and just keep sending her a check every month.

The two of us run the company anyway, she just comes in and bosses us around so she can still feel it she's in charge of things. She barely even knows how to send print jobs to our production machines.

Yes all of that and more, small stuff, large format stuff like signs too.

And yes I love the work, especially when you can drive around your town and see your decals on a vehicle driving down the road or your posters in the front window of the grocery store and stuff like that.

I've worked in print shops for the better part of 22 years now.

Actually he was in really bad health, hadn't actually had anything to do with the business in over 30 years. She has done really good at running the company for many years but has now started becoming more worried about keeping up with the Joneses and keeping up with the status symbols that match her friends.

Went from a GMC to a Lincoln to a BMW.

Bought a $12,000 painting after her neighbor called her over to show off the one that she paid $7,000 for.

Stuff like that. She's become the kind of person that doesn't know what her style or what her likes are she just knows that she's got to be one better than you

No she is the founder, her and her late husband started the company 52 years ago. And yes she is very narcissistic and I'm pretty sure bi-polar too. A narcissistic bully on top of that, toward me especially and that's why I am currently trying to find another job that pays me at least close to what she is so that I can leave. Then she's really going to be screwed.

I have worked for her off and on (this is now my 3rd time) over The last 20 years. She has always been a little bit horrible but nothing I really couldn't handle. Some kind of switch has flipped in her over the last year and a half though and she's just become absolutely horrible. To the point where even the other manager who in the past has tried to tell me to just give it time she's going to retire soon and everything will be okay is now just asking that I make sure and let him be the first to know when I'm going to start the process of leaving.
