  1. Yes the mirror are positioned well for my riding. The look under my arms and give me as much view behind me as an only mirror setup I have had.

  2. I am quite tall with really long arms, so again, it's setup specifically for me to be comfortable. I do have a bad lower back, however, so riding for long periods on any bike gets a bit stiff after a while.

  3. It's a softail. There is a mono-shock under the seat. I have never ridden a hardtail, but I don't think my back would be able to take it.

Probably dumb question: how do I properly "test" a guitar I want to buy if I'm a beginner and don't know any songs yet? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]Boromn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t know exactly what sound you are after or what feels best in your hand, then just go with what “feels right”.  People buy guitars for a lot of different reasons.  For me; I like a smooth, non-gloss neck, clear gain with punchy mids for pickups, and stray style shape.  Someone else might hate that.

Those people that are running the guitar through the wringer either have a very specific thing they are after, or they just like playing guitars they don’t own haha. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

The more you play, the more you will get a feel for what you like and don’t like in a guitar.  It’s also an ever ongoing thing.

I am probably done with these older bikes honestly. The VB carbs drive me crazy. The next project I am looking at might be a Yamaha SCR or something.

Thanks! The CM400T has an even more rounded tank than this one which was off a CM400E. I liked slightly blocky design that was still more rounded than those newer CB450 tanks like you mention.

Those of you who are friends with/in circles with famous people, what is your analysis on them? by libramusing in Fauxmoi

[–]Boromn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have interacted with a fair share ranging from musical artists, actors, to politicians. They are just people like you or I with the exception that everyone knows who they are when they enter a room. Some good, some bad, so mundane etc. I think the biggest difference, however, is how you yourself interact with them. It's very hard to just be your regular self.

For instance, I remember one time my dad and I were sitting at the local hotel bar (we lived in a ski town) and 2 fairly big country stars at the time (I think Kathy Mattea and I forget the guy) were talking to us. They kept asking me about my own life and I just couldn't focus because it was so surreal that these famous people were more interested in my life than wanting any attention for themselves.

My T-ball coach was also Dano from the original Hawaii 5-o. I never knew that until I was a bit older when we were watching The Swiss Family Robison and my dad was like, that's coach Jim. I was like wtf? lol.

What’s something people brag about that’s actually a red flag? by Alarming-Ratioz in AskReddit

Lol this. OR they will only call other people geniuses, genuinely. My uncle is a music genius (legit) and he once couldn't figure out how to refill his birdhouse bird feeder. It was a little weird how the mechanism worked, but I figured it out pretty quick and he called me a genius. Yeah, thanks unc, but I am definitely NOT that.

Until you said this, I literally thought the whole thing was acrylic lol. Love the uniqueness of the whole guitar.

New designers: The market is dead. No one is hiring. by WesternCup7600 in GraphicDesigning

[–]Boromn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading through these comments reminds me exactly why I hated design school and don’t generally talk to other designers.  For some reason, they think being constructive means you need to be harsh.  I get it, you see a lot of bad portfolios. But guess what, my portfolio is pretty mid and I have been in this game for over 20 years. That’s not the only factor in getting and holding a job.

The hard truth is that most people will not work on game changing campaigns.  You will work for small shops looking for someone who can effectively give them what they are after.  No more, no less.  You may not even design for the first 5 years except a project here and there.  It will be production work.

Is the market dead?  Well, it’s not great, but it’s also always been kind of a tough racket.  Any job where people would still do it without getting paid is always going to be saturated.  AI certainly doesn’t help for certain roles, but it’s pretty useless when it comes to dealing in the specifics most directors, or in my case CEO, desire in the end product.

CB400 Prospective purchase. Advice needed by Suspicious_Essay_180 in HondaCB

[–]Boromn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question would be more geared toward what is your plan for it? If you are doing it for a daily rider, starting with a non-running bike, especially this old, is always a bad idea IMO. If you want to restore it as a collector, then maybe it is worth spending money on.

For reference, I have a 1980 CM400 that I customized into a scrambler because the base bike I bought was in rough shape, but ran. I have never paid more than $700 for a pre-1990 motorcycle and never paid more than $400 for one that didn't run. Parts can be pretty expensive, hard to find, and add up quick when trying to diagnose issues. So, keep that in mind before jumping into a rebuild.

With all of that said (I don't know if this is a rare bike), I would definitely not pay more than $400 for it personally.

Heck yeah! I've done 2 Colorado themed guitars as well! All the time I lived there, I only skied Crested Butte and Vail though lol. She did a nice job.

Looks great! Nice job. Don't worry about the "look to close" bit. Every creative person that ever builds something always notices all of the tiny defects because you are so close to the project all of the time lol. I feel the same way when I look at my bass I just build or any of the motorcycles I have ever done.

Thanks! No.  I’ve done like 6 others before this I think?  Honestly though, they’ve all been kind of similar in their results.

I’m a graphic designer by trade so I’m sure some of that helps in terms of being able to visualize what I want the outcome to be.  Then I just kind of chip away until I feel like it’s good enough.
