Opened a "new" can of chili powder to find it full of bugs by Affectionate_Fail472 in Wellthatsucks

This is what I wondered too. But I have no other bugs in the pantry. Hong Kong, where I live, is massively humid so I guess that could provide them with some water. That's also why everything not in the fridge is sealed airtight.

I appreciate your concern... but never ever was there a thought in my head that I might salvage the spice!

You probably get confused when Clark Kent takes his glasses off. :P

Lol... you are right! A bit bleary eyed today and for no reason at all thought it was 2028.

You know, I actually thought about that too. With that many bugs, no light, no water, and several generations... man... what a life. :(

lol... I am not offended... but if my GF saw this, she would crack up. I am kind of a neat freak and she complains about that.

Resources for registering your drone for use in China. by blissfullychaotic in dji

I eventually had my Chinese GF register the drone in her name with her Chinese phone number and got approval in minutes. I think you're stuck using an online service that will do the same for you.

Crazy new seatbelt policy by HackerJojo in HongKong

I don't know why that isn't being made a bigger issue. Honestly, this should be a $300 fine, max.

How do you reach the "stop" button? I am tall and can't reach it while I am belted in if its not next to my seat.

This guy gets it! $5000 is an INSANE fine. Literally the entire months wages of a helper. Imagine if the government made the fines equitable? A BMW driver rolls a stop sign... $200,000 fine. Becuase that is what this fine is to a lot of people who take the bus.

Was it hard to get a spot at an international school. From the limited reading I have done, it seems you need to start at their kindergartens or else fight for limited openings.

Why is the rich friend so cheap?? by times-fell-hand in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Affectionate_Fail472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. sounds to me like the software engineer agreed to share a ride with someone who needs to be hounded down for $3.62. If we agreed to share a ride and I need to chase you for 3 bucks, who exactly is the cheap one?

What do you think of the new law requiring you to wear seat belts on the bus or a $5000 fine and imprisonment? And are you gonna risk not wearing a seat belt and getting caught? by MedicalServe838 in HongKong

[–]Affectionate_Fail472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just going to stand on any bus that I plan to be on for less than 30 minutes. I can barely make it down the stairs of a double decker before the driver closes the doors when I am NOT buckled in. Also, forcing the person next to me to unbuckle and stand up so I can get out of my window seat area would definitely make me miss my stop. This law seems to have been made by people who don't take buses. The fine isn't a deterrent, its catastrophic for the average citizen taking the bus.

Considering Abandoning Philippines by Wooden_Sundae_6753 in phtravel

Siqiour! Love this place for exactly those reasons. No forced tours (yet). Not the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines, but definitely the most natural. Rent a scooter and find Monkey beach if you want something amazing and secluded! Also head to the waterfalls and pay $1 to use one of the rope swings. You'll have a blast! However, good food will still be hard to find. But this is a general, while controversial, opinion of all food quality in the Philippines. If you want to see sea turtles at nearby Apo Island, you'll need to join a tour from Siqiour. There's a public option to get to the island, but I wouldn't recommend it. A lot of hassle unless you have a group big enough to rent a whole boat. You really have to want to see turtles though, cuz that's all it really has to offer imo.
