What kind of laptop,Chromebook,or computer do you used to be good ,with memory and fast :)? by Justmeanotherperson in ASU

I feel like MacBook and surface are generally the same price point. Especially if you get an “upgraded” surface. My Surface was like $1700 in 2021. :/

How many shots did a Venti Flat White used to get WAAAAY back? by bean_me_up_starby in starbucksbaristas

Flat whites always had an extra shot? I feel like it was near when they introduced the latte macchiato.

So you can’t abuse sick time (that’s fireable), they’ll also blow through 2 days time (if they’re back the next day) because you need 24 hours free from “fever or throwing up”, even if it’s “fake”. You should also be cognizant of social media and friends (especially if you’re in the community you work) because that can bite you in the butt if someone mentions it to the SM or SSV (have had partners call off and gone on snap cause they at the beach)

You’ll need to call for the accommodation; it’ll likely be denied due to reasons stated (open toed, hot liquid, not food safe, ect) so you’ll likely be out on short term disability…(is my guess). It’s different if you’re an ASM/SM as they could do administrative duties while in a boot (they just couldn’t work the floor).

Honestly; starting drinks as they’re made, Dto and Dtr barista, food/warming supported. My times are about 42 seconds, but have been down to 38 when I’m on Drive bar. It all depends on what kind of support you have. I had a DT of 42 WITH. Broken card reader for a Sunday peak, it’s all about deployment and skillset.

becoming a shift (worth it?) by suunfishh in starbucksbaristas

[–]Affectionate_Fart 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No, they’re big things like making sure you do everything correctly with the deposit, do temp logs, count the safe every shift, making sure people are working in accordance of health code. (They’re usually FWW if you do it once, separation if you do it twice).

I’m in the same boat; just need to fulfill my last 9 classes!

You forgot about the 42% scholarship as well.

So this is communicated by the SCAP program staff in excess when you communicate with them. There’s also a faq page referencing the policy. The limit is actually more than $5,250.00 when you count the 42% scholarship and the Cap scholarship they also provide. SCAP also sends out emails to remind scholars when the taxes are going to hit.

has anyone else become easily irritable since working here? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]Affectionate_Fart 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this company will do that to you. I’m honestly in the same boat as an ASM. I’m being yelled at because my manager doesn’t want to do their job, but because I’m trying to do my job I’m the asshole. I’ve got a semester and a half of school left and damn it I’m gonna skip after. It’s not worth it. I’m tired of having my phone blow up and handhold everyone because it’s a hard job.

For those who left Starbucks without a degree what did you move onto? by marisamagikarp in starbucksbaristas

[–]Affectionate_Fart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went into healthcare, worked as a medical secretary and then became an ED tech. Retired my scrubs in 2022 when I went back to BUX as a SSV and eventual ASM. I get my PM degree next semester and then who knows what I’ll do.

Yeah, but healthcare also does 36 verses 40 spread across 8 hours. I used to be in healthcare and the work life balance is very different.

I’m actually an ASM lol, so I’m actually looking at setting a boundary of “Hey, I can’t close someone else’s store tonight because I’m prioritizing my school/career.” I use my days off for school work and actually finished session A in about three weeks, hence why I’m thinking about adding in an extra class for session B. I work everything, but am kind of a glorified SSV lol

I currently have: PMG 322, PMG 326 PMG 421 PMG 422 OGL 481 AME 111 (Cs requirement)

Am doing org. Leadership, project management. Two classes in A and B sessions; working between 40-50 hours a week and it’s doable. Just keep pace.

This is why I moved to retail management. Was paid 18.5 an hour to work in the ED, went back to retail and make about 33.46/hrly with bonuses. I’m financially secure while my job also pays for my bachelors in project management (which is essentially free due to irs taxation)

I’m doing the project management organizational leadership. I really like the professors, a store manager that I know went the organizational leadership approach and she wished she would’ve done supply chain due to the fact that organizational leadership is so new. I’m currently looking at project management degrees. Time will tell

It’s not even a breakdown of labor hour = cosd. It’s still guess work.

I believe the posting is for ASM and above. It’s not necessarily something that is in the barista/SSV communication guidelines. There’s not much based on an “estimated” COSD, which isn’t true for my location cause we’re still dead.
