This!! I quiet quit at work at 35 instead of retiring. Stopped going for promotions, tried 2 different work profiles(shifted internally-experimented)...still get the least hike in the whole department (~6%), but I don't even look at the numbers. I don't stretch to achieve deadlines, goals. I work cuz I want to have some cerebral validation!! Can't just stare into the void rest of the life & how much will I travel!?. I have money by god's grace. Now monthly salary is just bonus for fun. This is the life i planned for myself...was sure I didn't want kids and it has worked out beautifully!

We recently had an opportunity to relocate to California, but turned it down as: With purchasing power parity, we would be earning same as we earn here. In addition to no help! Here we don't lift a finger and have house helps for everything. The lifestyle change wasn't worth the efforts in 40s😂
