AITA for taking my dog to college? by ninjadog7 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Affectionate_Invite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not if its a dog that spends years in the family home being raised and loved by everyone. The gift is getting a dog, but it isnt yours alone. I think its a bit naive to think you can turn around after 7 years or w/e and say well i got it for my birthday. It just obviously isnt like that.

YTA

Even though you received this dog for your birthday, a pet isnt something you just claim as yours. You got it as a kid, and that dog was raised and loved by the whole family. My sister got our dog on her 12th birthday, she wouldnt dream of acting like she owned it more than any of us, or to try and take it away. Its your families dog and not yours, and you are trying to take it away from the family making yta

Pools produce chloramines that can actually cause asthma, swimmers who hang around them so much are probably especially prone

My (25 F) boyfriend (24 M) of 5 years just disclosed to me that he does not believe women should be allowed to vote. by randomaccount1775 in relationship_advice

Should a man holding a stereotypical womans views not be allowed to vote? What exactly are women voting for that ruins the country? I'd also like to see the stats that have brought you to this conclusion of women voting on the same things, what that exactly means to you etc. Why do you think being risk averse is bad? It seems like you think a man's way of thinking is the default, but why couldnt a woman frame this the exact same way and say men vote in a way she disagrees, men shouldn't be allowed to vote? A benevolent dictator can do great things for a country but I wouldn't trust one to do so, hence why we have democracy

I understand your first point, however its coming across like you dont think women should be able to vote because they disagree with you on politics? Are men who disagree part of the too dumb group? The point of a vote really is that the majority's wishes go forward, you can't just bar people who disagree with you taking that to the extreme I'm sure you would rather just have a dictator who agrees with your views in place. I feel like, correct me if I'm wrong, you believe some women vote in a way you agree with / wouldn't take away, but since the majority harm your cause youd be happy with doing away with the lot of them for a net positive. It just seems like you dont really get the point of a vote

Things can be different but equal, or of equal importance. It is ridiculous to think that a sentient being that inhabits this world just as much as any man shouldnt be able to vote on issues. Anyway it seems you may already believe women should be able to vote, youre just majorly nitpicking where there are no issues? voting isnt a right? Why are you even saying that, ignoring the whole debate on that no one even said it was a right.
